Transport Planner

• Ensure completion of the daily schedule ensuring sufficient levels of communication to Symington’s 3pl hauliers and backhaul customers. Schedule to then be communicated to all internal parties
• Ensure completion of shunter plan
• Provide drivers with all required information at the start of their shift including details of collections and deliveries, booking times and references. Where possible drivers should also be provided with contacts details of destinations and volume of pallets they are delivering
• At the beginning of a drivers shift ensure they are provided with all the necessary tools and information to ensure they are able to complete the job throughout their shift. This includes providing them with a phone, unit tasks/defect book, tacho roll and daily check sheets.
• Ensure drivers complete their daily checks and report any defects.
• Ensure resolution of defects and communicate trailer/units issues including VOR
• Management of trailers – Ensure awareness of where trailers are including whether they are full or empty
• Ensure escalation of delays in tipping/loading vehicles to ensure trailer availability
• Checks the service board and ensure this is kept up to date
• Manage the bookings for servicing and MOT of trailers and units
• Maintain up to date records of services/mot/defects
• Monitor trailer cleaning audits and communicate progress daily
• Be the central point of contact for all drivers to communicate delivery/collection issues and work with production and warehousing site to resolve issues
