Global Head of Decision Science

Reporting directly to Funding Circle CRO, and as a member of his Risk & Analytics leadership team, you will be his senior advisor regarding the use of statistical models and advanced quantitative techniques to optimise business performance.

The Role

• You will join Funding Circle Risk & Analytics team, where leading edge analytics are designed to harness the power of data and enable scientifically optimised decisions.
• Reporting directly to Funding Circle CRO, and as a member of his Risk & Analytics leadership team, you will be his senior advisor regarding the use of statistical models and advanced quantitative techniques to optimise business performance.
• Working across all our markets (currently UK, USA, Germany and Netherlands), you will collaborate with experts in risk management, technology, data management, marketing, business operations to understand business needs and shape analytical solutions.
• Managing a global team of data scientists, you will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing complex statistical models used for marketing targeting, credit underwriting, fraud prevention, collections, recoveries and customer experience.
• You will ensure decision models are very reliable, through thorough validation and testing. You will adopt Funding Circle best practices and help shaping global quality standards. You will monitor model performance, identify issues and implement fixes.
• You will also collaborate with Data and Tech teams to maintain and improve the infrastructure for model development and implementation. You will research new data sources and new modelling techniques, helping Funding Circle identify next analytical innovations.
• You will support regional CROs in their interactions with external investors who conduct due diligence on FC asset or enquire about the performance of their investments.
  

The Candidate

• Typically 10+ years’ experience in scorecard modelling / predictive analytics / machine learning gained in tech companies, retail banks or analytical outfits
• Previous risk modelling experience is necessary
• Excellent quantitative skills, very strong strategic thinking
• Strong leadership skills and ability to influence across the organisation
• Masters or Ph.D. in a quantitative field (Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering…)
• Passionate about Funding Circle’s mission and values – agile, collaborative, creative, great to work with
