Data Scientist

The Role

• You will join Funding Circle Risk & Analytics team, where leading edge models and analytics are created to harness the power of data and enable scientifically optimised business decisions.
• You will collaborate with experts in predictive modelling, risk management, technology, data management, and marketing strategy to understand business needs and shape analytical solutions.
• Reporting to the global Head of Decision Science, you will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing complex statistical models used for marketing targeting, credit underwriting, fraud prevention, collections and recoveries and customer experience design.
• You will ensure decision models are very reliable, through thorough validation and testing. You will adopt Funding Circle best practices and help shaping global quality standards. You will monitor model performance, identify issues and implement fixes.
• You will also collaborate with Data and Tech teams to maintain and improve the infrastructure for model development and implementation. You will research new data sources and new modelling techniques, helping Funding Circle identify next analytical innovations.

The Candidate

• *Typically 1-5 years’ experience in scorecard modelling / predictive analytics / machine learning gained in tech companies, retail banks or analytics consulting outfits
• Excellent quantitative and problem-solving skills using logical reasoning and analytical methods.
• Passionate about Funding Circle’s mission and values – agile, collaborative, great to work with
• Masters or Ph.D. in a quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering etc.)
• Proficient with analytical tools like R, Python, Scala, Spark etc.
