1st Walsall Wood Scout Group

Since I have joined 1st Walsall wood scout group I have been the Beaver leader for two years, here I was able to help the beavers gain badges and awards we did sleepovers and we went on many trips to museum’s, then I moved up to cubs here I was an assistant cub leader helping on many camps, outings and trips to many places and each cub gained many badges. Now I’m the scout leader of the scout section and I have achieved my Narrow Boat Management certificate now I can take the scouts away for weekends.
I also did my adult training and I have received my wood beads and certificate.
I have five years experience working as a volunteer with children from the ages of six to fourteen and working with other adults in our scout group.
The Canal & River Trust (Fradley Junction)

I help at fradley junction, trent & mersey canal which crosses the coventry canal.
Im a volunteer helper we maintain the court yard keeping the grounds tidy we trim the hedges, walk ways of the path by the canal, I have been on a couple of courses making wattle fences and I have also down a hedge laying course to, I love my time helping to keep the canal side and nature reserve clean and tidy, making sure all areas are clear and tidy, as winter is coming we removed all the bird & bat boxes and cleaned them out and replaced any broken boxes then replaced them in the trees, we also tidy round by the shops and cafe removing dead flowers and leaves. With the help of all the volunteers we try and maintain the up keep of all canals, locks and public areas round fradley junction.
I have just started a new volunteer role as a educational lead with the explorer’s this is where we educate children from schools about water safety, we either go to there classroom or they visit us at fradley junction.
