• I was employed as a home based general perils and building insurance validation surveyor with Aviva Insurance (the world’s 6th largest insurer). During my period with this joint venture validation programme I regularly achieved nationwide top five surveyor status and was twice rated as the company’s top performing surveyor. I managed & obtained substantial cost savings for the company every year by correct validation, repudiation and settlement processes.

I was employed within the Association’s technical department as an estates & maintenance officer . I had sole responsibility for overseeing and managing all day to day estate management, reactive repairs and major planned projects ( £1m+), together with all voids maintenance for 800 social rented flats and houses.
I worked closely with the area housing officers in not only improving the condition of the properties but was also heavily involved in arranging various social inclusion projects that resulted not only in improving our tenant’s environments and lives but also featured on Scottish National news & radio programmes.

I was directly responsible to our clients and for managing their portfolios which comprised some 1500 unfurnished & furnished rented properties and 180 owner/occupied developments. These duties were all undertaken within a fully computerised office setting.
I personally developed our furnished portfolio from 90 to 400 properties over a period of 3 years and had sole responsibility for managing and improving every aspect of the 1000+ unfurnished portfolio properties. I oversaw an increase in annual rental income for our clients by over £1.5m during my time with the company. I also took full responsibility for surveying, co-ordinating and project managing multiple large value capital and cyclical improvement contracts to the portfolios. 2010-2013
Angus Carnegie AJC Surveyors was originally recommended to us by two colleagues from separate companies. We started work with Angus in 2010 where he worked as a self-employed independent claim surveyor. He had sole supplier status in DD, AB and PH postcodes due to his excellent work and achieving and beating every service level agreement in place with us consistently.
He has always been flexible and worked in G, KY and IV postcodes when we have required help in busy periods.
Angus takes ownership of problem claims and there has not been an occasion where a quick call to Angus has not resolved what could have been an awkward and complex situation.
During his time with us he has helped us through some large surge events, with which our competitors were unable to cope, most notably where we became sole suppliers for Scotland for Lloyds banking group in the “big freeze” of 2010 to 2011. Angus understands his role in the process and subsequently always goes the extra distance to ensure that the policyholder is aware of the next steps in order to progress their claim in line with the FSA’s Treating Customers Fairly initiative. His buildings knowledge and pathology skills enable him to determine the proximate cause of insurance claims and provide correct schedules of work with minimal variations received from his local contractors. Angus has always displayed a high repudiation rate with a low complaints ratio; this has enabled us to make large savings to our client with a high rate of policyholder retention due to his exceptional bedside manner in explaining and delivering his findings on site with the policyholder.
If you would like to clarify any of the above then please do not hesitate to contact me on: 07901918666 or Jon@domesticsurveys.co.uk
