After gaining a GNVQ in Business Administration and leaving school, I joined John Raymond Transport in Bridgend working in the Transport Office. I was made redundant when they closed the trailer workshop. I then started a mechanical apprenticeship in Car Line Transport. Due to financial issues the company was having, I left and finished the course at Joint Motorways hauliers. Joint Motorways as then liquidated due to loss of contract with British Steel. Owens Road Services then took over the workshop, so I worked for them as a mechanic and then later in the stores. I then left to set up a family haulage business with my parents and sister, who subcontracted to Tarmac. I finished employment in the family business on 6th of July 2018 due to long term illness of both senior partners.
