ECM’s investment process is designed to provide clients with superior risk adjusted returns by focusing on credit selection together with a robust framework for asset allocation. Clients benefit from our disciplined research and investment process which ensures that each security in a portfolio is there by design, unlike traditional indices approaches where credit deterioration and unrewarded risks can go unnoticed.
As Portfolio Specialist the role is primarily internal facing, supporting the investment teams, salesforce and client relations team. They will assist in preparing for client and prospective client meetings, perform competitor and marketplace analysis, help develop new products and prepare product specific marketing materials. Portfolio Specialists will participate in investment process meetings with portfolio managers and present at various forums, demonstrating knowledge of the rationale behind the portfolios’ positioning, outlook and risk.
With the help of the Senior Portfolio Specialist, the Portfolio Specialist should be able to clearly discuss ECM’s investment process, philosophy and strategy to a wide variety of audiences, both verbally and in writing, answering general as well as technical questions. Applicants should enjoy working collaboratively across the organization in a positive team environment and demonstrate a sense of accountability and urgency in achieving results.

Key Responsibilities:
This position reports to ECM’s Senior Portfolio Specialist and is based in London, UK.
- Serve as a liaison between client facing teams and the investment team
- Support Client & Consultant Relations Directors and the Sales team in broad fixed income solutions and investment team/portfolio-specific meetings by participating in calls, attending meetings when necessary and contribute to RFP submissions etc.
- Take responsibility for content and quality of client reports and data requests
- Preparing for finals presentations, consultant meetings, RFP submissions, etc.
- Develop expert level product knowledge in order to clearly articulate and market portfolio strategies to clients and prospects
- Participate in promoting the team’s capabilities and products though writing and overseeing relevant and interesting research and positioning papers/support material
- Assist in keeping business management informed regarding the business and performance of the investment team
- Work across the WCM fixed income platform in collaboration with the wider team of Senior Portfolio Specialists to help represent the platform to its full extent.
Skills/Experience Required:
- Solid investment management experience
- Degree level or equivalent with an emphasis in finance or quantitative/analytical field
- Demonstrate outstanding flexibility, communication and teamwork skills
- Excellent Powerpoint and Excel skills
- Occasional travel may be required
- CFA/MBA qualifications preferred
- Knowledge of European languages an advantage
