Full job description
My client are a leading airline catering company based close to Gatwick airport in Crawley.

They provide inflight catering for some of the major airlines based out of the airport.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a keen interest in Aviation as your work will see you working each day onsite on the airfield helping to load and unload aircraft ( of all sizes ) with all their catering needs

To be considered for this position you must have the following:

A clean driving licence or a maximum of 3 points as you will be driving a van airside close to and around aircraft of all sizes
5 years of references ( the most recent five years ) as you will need these references in order to obtain an airside pass allowing you to drive and work airside.
You must be very safety aware as you will be operating around airplanes and entering the planes on a daily basis.

You should also have a high attention to detail in order to manage your daily schedule as well as making sure, in partnership with the HGV driver that each aircraft is loaded and unloaded correctly.

Day to day responsibilities include but not limited too:

Working at the company depot to ensure all catering trollies are loaded onto the lorry to go to the airport and that the highest level of security is adhered too.
Going airside in your van and following a schedule of aircraft that need to be loaded and unloaded.
Helping the HGV driver to drive up to the aircraft to ensure a safe delivery and unload of catering supplies for each flight
Assisting the driver to then load new supplies and unload the empty trollies.
Back at the depot helping to unload the empties to the cleaning department.
Shifts start AM between the hours of 04:00AM to 08:00AM and are typically 9.5 hours with a 30 minutes unpaid break.

The shift profile is 5 days on and then 3 days off – this will therefore require you to work weekends when your 5 days fall on the weekend.

You also need to be flexible to work additional hours when required, especially over the busier periods especially in the summer and run up to Xmas. All additional hours are of course paid at standard rate.

More than anything else the referencing process is very strict in order to obtain the airside pass, you must be able to show solid employment and obtain references for the last 5 years ( small gaps between in employment are OK as you can have someone who knows you provide a gap reference).
