Editor, S&P Global Platts Insight

Grade: 11A

Location: London, Canary Wharf

The Role: S&P Global Platts is looking for an Editor to Lead and manage a multi-platform editorial program under the S&P Global Platts Insight brand. Commission and curate high-quality, cross-commodity content for digital and print distribution that is market relevant and aligns with S&P Global Platts key initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Act as lead content stakeholder in S&P Global Platts Insight Magazine and the Insight blog, assuming responsibility for editorial content featured across both platforms.
  • Lead and manage the Insight editorial calendar for the magazine and blog, ensuring a steady flow of content, market relevance and alignment with key initiatives and other free content.
  • Leverage knowledge of Platts free and subscriber content to curate and repurpose high-quality content from all commodity sectors.
  • Commission, edit and write high-quality original content for both platforms.
  • Curate email newsletters showcasing the best content from the blog, alongside other free content from Platts.
  • Generate regular ideas for impactful multimedia content as part of the Insight editorial calendar.
  • Work closely with the Central Editing Desk to ensure robust social media promotion of content that appears on the Insight blog.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders in the Content and Marketing teams to regularly review content quality and assess performance at driving engagement, alignment with marketing goals and MQLs/SQLs.
  • Work closely with the Central Editing Desk, Design & Production and Strategic Media teams to ensure a smooth production process for Insight Magazine.
  • Develop detailed cross-commodity knowledge and continuously research content ideas.
  • Work with the Digital Content Leader to continuously review and enhance the Insight strategy to ensure it is effectively driving engagement with Platts content and serving broader organizational goals.
  • Act as brand ambassador at internal and external industry events.

Essential skills

  • Educated to degree level with at least 5 years’ experience in journalism and knowledge of energy and commodities.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with digital media. Familiarity with digital engagement metrics and performance reporting. Social media and video skills are an advantage.
  • Understanding of S&P Global Platts coverage, including some historical background. Industry experience and knowledge of existing products are an advantage.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to consistently spot inaccurate information, typographical errors, poor grammar and information gaps.
  • Strong communication skills with good listening technique. Clear, concise writing style and good presentation skills.
  • Good problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities, with the ability to link issues and events in stories.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently to effectively coordinate multiple tasks in a high-stress journalism atmosphere. Ability to prioritize jobs and requests.
  • Collaborative and comfortable working across a range of different global teams.
