J.P. Morgan’s Global Market Infrastructures (GMI) is a group within the Chief Administration Office (CAO) within the Corporate Investment Bank (CIB). GMI is responsible for managing J.P. Morgan’s network of critical third party providers for cash and securities services for its proprietary and client activities in approximately 100 markets. These critical providers include Financial Market Infrastructures (Payment Systems, Central Counterparties, Securities Depositories and Check Clearing Systems) and Agent Banks (cash correspondent banks, partner banks and securities sub-custodians and clearing banks). The core responsibilities of GMI include Market and Infrastructure Management, Agent Performance Management, Network Client Consulting and Information Management and Delivery. The global team is located in Hong Kong, Singapore, Mumbai, Bournemouth (UK), London and New York. While the team resides within CIB, it supports all J.P. Morgan lines of business.
The Line of Business (LOB) Relationship Manager is a position that aligns with a key GMI priority to drive a material improvement in the overall quality of its engagement across all LOB partners. Significant interaction will take place with key senior LOB partners and there is considerable ability to influence the growth, risk profile, development, competitiveness and profitability of the LOB partner.
Role and Responsibilities:
Relationship Management
Manage internal JPM LOB relationship across all markets, products and GMI services used by the LOB
Understand LOB’s challenges, opportunities, drivers of network volume and strategic agenda with respect to markets and providers; agree strategy with LOB
Create and maintain LOB profiles, understanding LOB footprint across GMI network
Understand competitive landscape across markets for the LOB’s business
Conduct annual mark-to-market review with LOBs and facilitate regular working dialogue
Drive and pursue consistency in contractual and pricing negotiations with providers to LOB across markets by partnering closely with the relevant Market Managers
Interact with senior LOB managers regarding strategic management of the network, FMI relationships and advocacy opportunities in each market (in partnership with GMI Industry Practice Leaders)
Seek to optimize network capabilities and spend for LOB
Understand the risk to the LOB inherent in its use of the network, including Resolution & Recovery and/or TLES actions for the LOB
Maintain and manage entire list of GMI deliverables to LOBLOB Champion within GMI
Understand and represent the best interest of the LOB within GMI and across its network management
Determine and influence strategic, LOB-specific priorities regarding the network
Deliver tough messages on behalf of the LOB to Market Managers and Senior Relationship Managers, as needed
Educate Market Manager community about the business needs and strategy of the LOB; build common goals and delivery objectives for the Market Managers interacting with this LOBLOB Point of Contact
Act as central point of contact for day to day LOB requests
Facilitate GMI-organized governance meetings with LOB
Represent GMI in LOB governance forums, and participate in all appropriate LOB meetings
Regular dialogue with LOB through formal meetings and ad hoc communicationAdvisory Role
Look across markets relevant to LOB, provide advice on consistent standards for contracts, fees, service levels, etc
Alert LOB to relevant market and provider news
Advise LOB on entry into new markets; engagements/disengagements
Devise LOB communication strategy
Offer solutions to address competitive challenges; identify developing trends across markets that may offer competitive advantage to LOB’s product development or client franchise
Proven client relationship management and/or client service management skills
Securities settlement, custody, foreign exchange, network management or product management experience in the financial services industry is desirable
Strong influencing and negotiation skills: must comfortably coordinate and influence multiple stakeholders (and align them around a common goal), without necessarily having the organizational authority to do so
Strong communication (verbal and written), and leadership skills
Strong analytical skills, project management and proven delivery
Deep understanding of the underlying LOB, its regulatory environment, product offering, competitors, competitive advantages, and must be able to understand the impact of the GMI network on the profitability and competitiveness of the product area
Strong bias toward risk management, compliance, oversight and control
Self-motivator with a high energy level

Attention to detail combined with an ability to absorb a large amount of information and develop a strategic approach
