CIB – Product Controller – EMEA Securitized Products Group (SPG) – Associate – London
The Securitised Products business is part of the Corporate & Investment Bank within JP Morgan. The business actively engages in the following business activities:
· Acquires or originates, warehouses, and subsequently securitizes consumer and financial assets
· Makes markets in existing securitized financial assets
· Provides financing of consumer financial products
· Underwrites securitizations for third party customers
· Structures and trades in derivative products linked to securitized products
The product control function within IB Finance and Business Management is responsible for:
· The region/product cut of the books and records and control environment
· Primary face to the business
· Production and consolidation of actual and estimate P&L
· Analysis of estimate to actual breaks
· Review and provision of commentary
· Control oversight and integrity of the financial statements and transaction end-to-end control
· Ensuring accuracy in reporting of risk positions
Position Description
The Associate role will be supporting some desks within EMEA SPG. Responsibilities include:
Daily preparation, analysis, and verification of the daily trading estimate and reported P&L for Front Office sign-off. Requires daily interaction with Front Office traders, trading assistants and Middle Office trade support.
Provide financial oversight over month-end close working closely with the Financial Control hub in Delaware.
Conduct investigations of breaks between P&L reporting system and the general ledger, cash wash breaks, and nostros.
Understand accounting treatment and ensure compliance with appropriate corporate and regulatory requirements
Prepare required data submissions used for Corporate and Regulatory reporting (e.g. FVM (SFAS 157), FVO (SFAS 159), Specific Risk used in risk-weighted assets and Long Term Debt).
Understand balance sheet usage and reporting
Consolidation accounting
Ensure appropriate legal entity reporting of products.
Ensure a sound control environment. Qualifications:
BS in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required.
Part Qualified/ Qualified CIMA/ ACA/ ACCA (or equivalent) or strong accounting background
At least three years of related financial analytical experience
Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
Experienced in analysis of monthly financial performance
Proficiency in computer navigation and Microsoft environment. Hyperion Essbase and SAP experience preferred
Strong communication & organizational skills, including good judgment and decision making abilities
Solid understanding of financial products such as loans and derivatives would be advantageous
Strong analytical, problem-solving abilities and detail oriented
