The EMEA Rates Product Control team is currently recruiting for an Associate level controller. The role requires working within a team covering multiple swaps and securities desk, looking at PnL and Risk with an analytical and control mindset having extensive interaction with Front Office, Market Risk Coverage, Business Management and technology.
The EMEA Rates business has primary and secondary components, and makes markets across Government, SSA, covered and inflation linked bonds, bond options, swaps, CDS and short term interest rate products across multiple European markets.
The candidate, to be based in London, will be responsible for:
Daily production and consolidation of daily profit & loss (P&L) reports, including investigation of drivers and production of commentary to send to senior finance management.
Owning the daily risk process including day on day risk analysis, validating risk input for VaR and Stress, investigating risk breaks and producing commentary on the driving factors for risk moves, including market environment analysis and knowledge of desks trading strategies.
Daily interaction with the front office to resolve P&L estimate to actual differences and ensure 100% P&L and Risk position sign-off.
Partnering with the financial control team to validate final month end PnL and FX exposures.
Validating daily explains and working with technology to improve the quality of the system generated explains.
Constantly focusing on operating efficiently and improving processes while maintaining a strong control environment.
Participate extensively during the month end close to meet business reporting requirementsQualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes/skills:
Ideally from a product control, accounting or auditing background
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail
Strong control mind-set with an inquisitive nature
Ability to challenge efficiency and drive forward on change and innovation of processes and adaptability to a changing environment
Good communication skills with an ability to explain complex concepts
Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or CFA would be advantageous
