Wells Fargo Asset Management is seeking a Business Initiative Manager to lead and support complex initiatives focused on operationalising regulation in both UK and EU jurisdictions. This role will interface directly with WFAM teams and business leaders, Wells Fargo EMEA partners, operational risk partners and key service providers.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Primary focus is to operationalise regulation (such as EMIR, BMR, BREXIT, GDPR, PRIIPS, SEC Report Modernisation) which includes but is not limited to helping interpret regulation and its impact on our operation, identifying actions required to prepare for a specific regulation, leading/participating in analytical activities as necessary, communicating status and escalating issues to senior leadership.
  • Participating in industry groups (such as Investment Association, ICI Global) to ensure we understand the competitive landscape, external interpretations of regulatory impacts and other interpretations.
  • Leading cross functional / virtual teams to strategise, plan and execute a variety of initiatives
  • Work closely with project management staff to implement required actions to comply with regulations
  • Facilitate cross functional working group focused on international regulatory initiatives impacting WFAM operational teams and tracking key dates and actions to ensure WFAM can meet the regulatory requirements. Ensure clear owners are identified across WFAM for each regulatory mandate.
  • Working collaboratively with other Business Initiative Consultants across operational groups and creating a loosely federated team, ensuring we prevent unnecessary redundancy and optimise efforts.
  • Supporting operations teams on prioritised projects, assisting in the formulation and definition of scope, objectives, and requirements through research, analysis, and fact-finding. Identifying issues and risks related to business process, system or infrastructure changes. Identifying, evaluating and developing solutions that are cost effective, maintain consistency across WFAM where possible and meet business requirements.
  • Building relationships with key business partners to ensure proper communication, escalation and awareness between the teams and with senior leadership.
  • Representing WFAM on cross-EMEA efforts, as required.
  • Other activities, as necessary.

Market Skills and Certifications

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the current regulatory landscape within financial services, particularly as it might impact upon Investment Management activities;
  • Ability to work and influence successfully within a matrix environment and build effective business partnerships with all levels of team members;
  • Strong understanding of asset management sector, in particular operations and regulatory landscape;

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in one or a combination of the following: fund accounting or fund administration / ops.
  • Strong analytic skills to be able understand and translate complex regulation, evaluate impacts and connect dots on both upstream and downstream implications for the business
  • Proven track record of leading others, driving efforts to completion, escalating issues timely and effectively
  • Ability to traverse both high-level executive discussions and in the weeds, tactical matters.
  • Ability to effectively manage partner relationships (including service providers)
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities
  • Experience with business analysis and problem resolution
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to lead/participate in multiple, concurrent initiatives.
