I am responsible for the daily running of the GES site situated on the talent site in Newton Aycliffe, my role includes organising the daily activities of our H.G.V vehicles as well as our 10 ton forklift trucks to ensure our commitment to our customers are met. I also plan and book all the repairs, inspections and MOT that are required to ensure our fleet remains safe and compliant. I carry out daily inspections of the entire site to make sure that all health and safety requirements as being met as well as carry out all accident and incident investigations relation to The GES operation in Newton Aycliffe. All personnel issues ranging from implementing a new rota system, holidays to disciplinary action when needed. When the business requires I drive our class 2 chain and hook loader vehicles as well as our fork lift trucks. I have supervised the loading of 3 ships with our product ranging up to 4200 tons, I also routinely visit our customer’s sites to ensure that our level of customer service remains at an acceptable level.

I was responsible for ensuring all the driver delivery and collection paper was correct and they were fully briefed before dispatching them for their days work, as well as ensuring the routing was most efficient possible. I dealt with any issue the drivers may have had while making their collection and deliveries by leasing with the Pallex network, The Pallet Network, Hazchem network and contacting our customers direct. It was also a major part of my role to keep in contact with the driver throughout the day to monitor their progress and to inform them of their new collections for the day as well as the re-route they will need to ensure our commitment to our customers where upheld. When the driver returned to the depot at the end of the day I debriefed the drivers regarding any issues they may have had during the day as well recording any failed collections and deliveries and then informing the relevant parties.

Regional Distribution Planner, Jewson

I was responsible for planning the loads for the vehicles in my designated area while complying with all the service level agreements in the distribution process, as well as ensuring the vehicles and driver are fit for their purpose while ensuring all requirements of the O licence are observed. During my time as a planner I have been seconded on numerous occasions to train new planners both in Jewson and Graham’s in the Trakm8 and transport systems as well as producing training documents to train planners and branches across the UK. Being the only original member of the North East distribution team I was responsible for training all of the current distribution team members in the Trakm8 system and the transport systems and procedures we employ in the office which includes the use of word and excel to illustrate the KPI’s for the North East.
I have also carried out various other roles while employed by Jewson which are Folk lift truck operator, Yard Foreman where I was responsible for the health and safety requirements of the yard and the branch vehicles as well as ensuring a high level of customer service and the security of the branch stock, Class 2 HGV driver with HIAB crane conducting multi drop loads, Sales counter area champion with a portfolio and sales targets, a trial as a regional sales negotiator as well as being the first aider and manual handling champion for my branch.
