HGV Class 2 Driver & Plant Operator

This job requires me to drive different sized HGV’s (7.5t, 26t & 32t) over long distances to various work sites across the U.K. Due to the nature of the sites, I am experienced in maneuvering HGV’s through extremely tight areas and across unstable ground. Once on site, it is also my duty to operate the Excavation equipment at the rear of the vehicle. I usually work around costly or dangerous services such as gas mains or fibre optic broadband, safely exposing them so that workers can carry out maintenance on them. To do this I also use an array of tools such as clay spades and air lances. It is also my duty to carry out basic maintenance on my vehicle, for example keeping all fluid levels topped up and keeping the cab clean and tidy. Time keeping and communication skills are also vital due to the amount of responsibility placed on me to complete my work to a high standard.

This job required me to safely deliver a large amount of shopping, within a very short period of time. Each delivery had to be made at a very specific time, meaning that my time management skills were essential on a daily basis. The goods also had to arrive in the same condition as they left the shop, this allowed me to develop a suitable, safe driving style to prevent any damage.
The job involved a lot of lifting and carrying of heavy trays, also as this was a customer facing role it was very important to be friendly and well presented.
