Working for a Grain Merchant based near Southampton responsible for the running of own vehicles, including purchase of vehicles / maintenance/ analyzing drivers hours for any infringements and all operator’s licence requirements were conformed to. Sourcing and negotiating with external haulers and sub-contractors.
• Arranging the movement and storage of grain throughout the UK and Europe. Coordinating and scheduling
large volumes of grain deliveries to flour mills and maltsters who operate on a timed delivery system.
• Speaking and liaising with farmers, store operators and customers with details of collections, storage and deliveries.
• Sourcing hauliers for the loading of export vessels. Requires the delivery of 3000ton’s plus delivered within a time period of two 10 hours days the duration in which the ship is berthed, non-compliance leads to demurrage.
• Negotiate with hauliers for yearly and spot hire rates whilst keeping within the company’s budget.
