Transport Operations Manager – Walkers Transport (a family run well established multi drop general haulage business being the Northern Hub for the Palletways network)

•Effectively controlled a Transport Budget of £6.5 Miilion
•Responsible for achieving the KPIS (overtime, on time deliveries and accidents).
•Responsible for 26 tractor units, 80 trailers, 23 rigid trucks including 3 tail lift trailers and a department of over 80 employees.

•Ensure legal compliance with company and statutory obligations regarding working time legislation, operator licencing, Health and Safety and quality.
•Manages the operating and planning of transport operations ensuring vehicle utilisation is maximised.

•Reduced the number of working time and drivers hours infringements by taking a proactive and collaborative approach from 805 to 386

Key Responsibilities:
•Overall running of a depot employing over 60 employees
•Budget planning.
•Ensure all freight is loaded in accordance with ADR Regulations.
•Ensure all next day and timed deliveries are routed on time.
•Maintenance of all vehicles on a 6 week service cycle.

(Wholesale Pharmaceutical Distribution)
Key Responsibilities:
•Overall responsibility for management of the transport function that cover 7,500 square miles, 85 vans and in excess of 100 drivers both employed and sub-contracted. Over 9,000 deliveries are
made on a weekly basis.
•Effectively controlled £1.5M Transport Budget through series of company and departmental KPI’s.
•Helped AAH become the first company to achieve the FTA’s Van Excellence award in 2011.
•Ensuring the fleet of 85 transit vans, two 38 tonne tractor units with three 45 foot trailers and two 17 tonne rigids in maintained and serviced correctly.
•CPC holder for the branch.
•Managed all regulatory and statutory requirements for the transport function. This included all service and repair activities which were authorised by myself.

•Improved van MPG from under 28 to over 30 through use of Safe and Fuel Efficient Driver training.
