Cory provides a wide range of waste and recycling services across the country for businesses, local authorities and the general public.
I was recruited as Commercial Manager for the South West area based in Cornwall to manage a failing Commercial Operation; I have grown the business from £2.5M (2013) to £7M (2016). I am a member of the senior management team in Cornwall.
I was responsible for the following:
• Budget of £7m per annum
• 100+ employees (admin, management, sales and operations)
• 12 Sales Representatives and 2 Account Managers
• Over 40 commercial vehicles
• Material Recycling Facility (MRF) sorting over 3000 tonnes per annum.
• CPC holder and Health & Safety champion for Commercial
• Oversaw the acquisition of a local recycling company.
• Moved us into new area’s and introduced new services
• Helped procure a new WMS system to improve the customer experience and operational efficiency
I have been successful in tendering and winning 3 national accounts with a combined value of £3 Million and have consistently hit my numbers for the past 2 years, I have restructured all of the operations, sales and admin departments to ensure our processes are as efficient as they can be and the service the customer receives is second to none.

Phoenix Shredding & Recycling was acquired from me by PHS in 2013 and I remained with the business as South West Regional Manager and was responsible for overseeing all Sales, Operations, Admin in the South West region. I was successful in merging the business with PHS and it resulted in no customer losses.

I started this business in April 2007 and I was responsible for:
• Sales, customer service, company accounts and operations, and have doubled the company’s turnover in the second year of trading and grown by 40% in the third year.
• Tendering and presenting to Devon County Council, Torbay Council and Exeter College to win tender for 4 years to provide on-site shredding to all locations.
• Service offerings to our customers, from cardboard collection and recycling to onsite and off-site shredding.

Shred-It After starting out in 2003 with one truck, one driver and a turnover of £40,000, I managed to build the branch up to a turnover of over £1m by the end of 2006.
My responsibilities included operations, sales and admin. I was responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction, employee retention and that all targets were achieved.
Achievements at Shred-It
• I annually achieved and exceeded my budgets, and in 2005 was the winner of the President’s Award (best branch in the world).
• My branch consistently fell in the top 5 out of 67 for best run branches.
• By 2006 I had increased the fleet of trucks to 6 vehicles and staffing levels to 24 including 8 sales reps.
• I was responsible for the South West, Dorset and Wales.
• I was nominated a training branch for new UK and European general managers.
• Not only did I achieve the targets for the branch, but I also achieved my own personal sales targets as well. I attended training courses worldwide to further develop my management skills.
