Personal Statement:
I am a graduate student who studied Policing and Criminal Justice at the University of Plymouth. I am a hardworking, honest, reliable and motivated person who enjoys not only being part of a team but also leading one. I am always looking to learn new life skills which will be beneficial to me in the workplace. I am sociable, articulate and enjoy supporting others as well as working in a busy environment. During my A level studies I learned how to work under pressure and how to balance my subject workload with rowing, which I participated in 6 days a week. Im now looking for something exciting to be part of, which will not only be helpful in gaining new skills but more importantly, opening doors to new opportunities and expanding my horizons which will push me forward in a career and beyond.
During the senior years of my school life I attended The London Oratory School. Alongside my studies I excelled at rugby and played for 3 years for the school at a national competitive level. Later I became a competitive rower where I competed for 4 years in national events as team captain such as National Schools Regatta which was held in Nottingham and Eton Dorney, as well as Henley Royal Regatta where i competed in the time trials. I also played rugby for London Welsh RFC for nearly ten years, starting out as a prop, and then moving on to being Number 8 for the first team from the Under 15s to the Under 16s. Alongside this I also was part of Tideway Scullers Rowing club for 2 years during my A levels, where i took part in various competitions, such as Hampton Head, and Chiswick Head. Whilst doing my degree at the University of Plymouth, I was a member of the University’s Power lifting team where I had competed in the regional championship, South West Englands Powerlifting Championship, and came fourth out of ten other competitors, comsidering being the youngest in the competition. I also worked as a Drivers Mate for Trans RT where I worked alongside Know How delivery team, who are associated with Curry’s, which involved me delivering all types of White Goods such as fridges, dishwashers, washing machines, and TV’s.
After completing my university degree, I worked at Premier Inn, which involved me doing various jobs, such as working behind the bar, restaurant and at the reception desk which allowed me to work on my multitasking skills. Following this i was employed as a trainee manager at Rumsey & Sons Removals and Storage Company with, which allowed me to get the best of the whole environment from working in the office, to working in the warehouse, and also working on the road as a porter. i was taught by the lead member of the warehouse how to pack valuable goods into containers and how to build large crates, i also learnt how to run the business, write quotes and help clients with their needs. With this I also went out with the drivers and porters and learnt how to pack and load the clients’ valuables onto the truck, and learnt what it is like to be on the front line of the business. From this I then went on to work for the Canal & River Trust, which allowed me to gain multiple skills on the water network. I gained my NTA Boating license, and learnt how to fix Canal Locks, as well as towpaths and clear Weirs. This job ignited my love to work outdoors and remain constantly busy, as well as giving me the opportunity to work with the public and gain the confidence of all those who lived on the waterways. From this I then returned to Rumsey & Son to work as a porter, allowing me to continue gaining skills by working with customers, and making sure their valuables are well stored and secured in the truck, and delivered safely to the clients new property. I am now looking to find new employment and seeking new opportunities to expand my horizons. I have always enjoyed working as part of a team, and getting my hands dirty, and firmly believe that teamwork is the strongest asset to any group or organization looking to fulfill its potential.
