RELEVANT SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
I have a HAG class 2 licence and have I have been working at Salford AMEY as a temporary hag 2 shunter driver since September 2011, I am hard working motivated and approach my work with enthusiasm, I take pride in everything I do and would enjoy the opportunity to undertake any training required to ensure that I can be the best employee possible.
I worked at Manchester City Council as a HGV 2 driver where I dealt in dry waste collections; I have experience of dealing with and working with the public and customers during my time as a milkman at Dale farm and a bus driver at Selnec. I have good communication skills and can liaise well with customers and colleagues.
When working at Birch Skip hire I operated machinery on an in house licence, I completed a year towards my CPC covering EEC regulations and driving hour’s road traffic act and permits and other legislation as a temporary HGV driver with Salford AMEY. I already adhere to and work within the company policy and procedures work within 14001 environmental management system and I understand that I must work within the health and safety policy and also within any budgetary constraints ruled and governed by finance and accounting.
When driving the shunter wagon at Salford AMEY I fill in a defect sheet I check my lights, tyres, brakes and lifting gear to identify defects with the wagon, I report to a production controller and if there are any defects then I would not drive an illegal vehicle. I am already working within the site license and have good understanding of the duty of care legislation and procedures, I am aware of the sites emergency plan and company policy and I understand the importance of following work instructions to ensure compliance with the hasawa of 1974. I wear the correct PPE at all times I have good knowledge of the health and safety legislation and I operate as safely as possible for the benefit of myself my colleagues and the company.
During my time at Salford AMEY as well as a shunter driver I have undertaken a variety of roles and tasks as instructed by the production controllers and charge hands, I have cleaned trommel star screen secondary crusher eddie currents and I have also emptied tubs and cleaned floors.
During my time at Birch Skip Hire I gained experience of using tachographs therefore I understand and can also prepare tachographs and digital card operation as required by law and within the EEC legal limits and working time directive. During my time working for Dale farm part of my daily duties included handling and being responsible for cash, whilst working for Selnec I collected cash daily and was responsible for handling it over to the traffic office.
As a shunter driver at Salford AMEY my current role involves driving safely around members of the public and other staff member’s plant machinery.
I understand that when an accident happens either to myself a third party a vehicle or equipment
I must report it straight away to traffic office or production controller and then complete all the necessary forms.
I have good numeracy and literacy skills keeping accurate records as part of my current role at Salford AMEY. I complete paperwork on site on a daily basis such as the locking off procedure, I am also familiar with completing time sheets, at Manchester City Council I was responsible for completing paperwork that related to my tasks for that day also when taking asbestos to landfill I filled inappropriate paper work. I have 32 years driving experience on all motorways and in all weather conditions I am fully conversant with rough terrain I have good knowledge of the North West and the UK due to my long driving experience I am also willing to work towards attainment of driver CPC qualifications.
