Tesco Distribution Center ( Magor ) Delivery Service Team Manager – O Licence holder
July 2018 to Present
I am a Team Manager for a defined number of Drivers/shunters/clerks in my Distribution Centre. I am a fully validated Duty Manager who can run the Delivery Service Operation as part of the Duty rota. I co-ordinate with Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU) any activities including servicing and Vehicle Off Road (VOR).
I conduct thorough/detailed handovers with the next Delivery Service Team Manager(s). I liaise with the Warehouse Service Shift Manager(s) to understand any operational impacts, concerns or delays. I review and confirm resource requirements, checking Drivers, Fleet and Haulage contractor resource and resolving shortfalls. I plan ahead to make sure sufficient resource is always available to deliver on time to our stores. I sign off and authorise Work Force Central exceptions for my team, liaising with the Delivery Service Time & Attendance Clerk to pay my team accurately and on time. I co-ordinate activities with Recycling Services Unit (RSU). I manage and resolve any issues associated with store turnaround. I resolve store queries including feedback from service helpline and any that are escalated from the clerical team or are recurring issues. I resolve any store related issues Drivers make me aware of, by contacting the Store Manager and seeing the issue through to conclusion. I build and maintain productive 2-way relationship with our top 10 stores. I attend the daily operations handover meetings, providing detailed handovers face to face to the oncoming Managers.
I resolve any escalated Driver debriefs. I review daily reports that are prepared by the clerical team. I approve the schedule and check the plan once it is resourced. I complete any infringements routines, investigations and associated paperwork. I complete Driver 4-weekly debriefs as required. I make sure that our Fleet is clean inside and out. I analyse performance and identifying training needs of the team. I liaise with agency and haulage contractors as required. I investigate any pre-departure issues and resolve as appropriate. I complete route override where required. I ensure backhauls are planned and delivered to the Distribution Centre on time, liaising with Primary accordingly. I review, feedback and coach my team on Microlise, Fleetboard and legal compliance. I ensure we deliver within the flex budget. I deal with fines, vehicle defect, Parking Control Notices, Notice of Intention to Prosecute, Well Driven Reports, and PG9. I complete yard and fleet checks. I resolve Driver feedback queries. I complete the Safe & Legal record checks and communicate outstanding issues as part of the handover. I discuss any issues or deviation from policy with the Delivery Service Lead Manager and action plan with them to make sure any next steps are completed.
SMART SOLUTIONS (RECRUITMENT) – Senior Driving Account Manager

I reported directly to the Divisional Director of the Driving Division, and also to the Operations Manager for Kier Services.
My responsibilities was to recruit and retain drivers to supply to a National Contract. The 9 sites I covere were situated from Oxford down to Taunton. My duties started with advertising for the drivers, pre-screening before formally interviewing. I arranged the inductions on site and kept our internal database updated. Payroll and invoicing were also within my remit.
I was responsible for holding monthly meetings with each of my sites General Managers to ensure that the service is of a high standard and meets the National SLA
DHL – First Line Manager / O licence holder

I report directly to the Transport Manager and my role is to assume operational and financial responsibility for the Transport Department. This involves direct management of the transport team, providing coaching, mentoring and development opportunities.

As branch manager I was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business and in particular the following:
To identify and convert new sales opportunities through making cold calls and having face to face visits with potential clients.
Maintain high levels of service to our current clients by having regular service visits and telephone contact each day.
Provide recruitment support to the branch by assisting to maintain a full range of recruitment activity. In addition I carry out candidate interviews and assessments, before selecting and placing candidates.

Norbert Dentressangle Logistics – HGV Driver / Driver Assessor

My job title states Driver, but I was responsible for processing Payroll on a weekly basis for our drivers. I was one of the site First Aiders. I completed KPI’s for my manager as and when required. I was responsible for updating our system which logs delivery times for our customers.
I was required to drive as part of the driving team as and when required, and work every other Saturday to cover the office and complete the planning for five vehicles, day and night.
I was a driver assessor for our site, and part of my responsibility was to assist at other sites when required to assess new starters. I assisted with the opening of a NDC in Avonmouth with the assessment of drivers.
