• Managing a mixed fleet of vehicles, from light commercial vans to heavy goods tankers. Ensuring servicing, MOT’s, Pet Reg test etc. are all adhered to within the dates.
• Managing 19 drivers, monitoring sickness, holidays. Sourcing sub-contractors when required.
• Managing the Skip Division as well as the Tanker Division.
• On 24/7 call for the both skip & tanker division
• Ensuring tachograph reports are signed and that any infringments are dealt with and monitored.
• Taking bookings from customers, invoicing and raising quotations for new customers or jobs.
• Liaising with customers, disposal sites, drivers and colleagues regularly through means of telephone and email.
• Managing budget control for vehicles maintenance, PPE and other equipment and ensuring turnover is kept up in order to make a profit.
• Dealing with emergency call outs and providing vehicles within a target response time.
• Ensuring new starters are inducted, suitably trained on the jobs carried out by the company and have all the correct equipment, PPE to carry out the jobs.
• Scheduling the work for the drivers for the following day, ensuring that all the information required for the driver was input onto the system. Making sure that times requested by the customer
are adhered to as well as ensuring that hazardous loads were carried by the correct vehicles and drivers for example ADR Pet Reg etc.
• Using Microsoft Office as well as Lotus 123 on a daily basis.
• Ensuring that drivers required to work on sites are inducted and that these are refreshed annually, making sure that the company holds its reputation and that it does get any points from site
e.g. Airbus, Shell.
• Ensuring that targets are met on a daily basis as well as other KPI’s on a weekly and monthly basis.
• Carrying out site visits to customer sites.
• Making sure that loads are carried with the appropriate paperwork required by law and the environment agency, such as section 62’s, duty of care and ensuring that they are completed correctly.

* Planning of metering engineers on contracts for the utilities division taking into consideration distance to nearest engineer, travel and time.
* Contacting customers to arrange convenient appointments for engineers visits and contact engineers during the day to request updates on schedule and keep customers up to date.

* Understanding that any resource spare needed to be allocated work in order to reduce down time and to be cost effective.

* Ordering and issuing of fuel cards for new starters and replacements and checking fuel records provided through an online system. Ensure driving licence checks are being done and that we have no
errors on the system with regards to company drivers.
* Arranging for vehicles to be returned to the leasing company and arranging for new vehicles to be delivered. Updating drivers and managers with regards to vehicle servicing and MOT’ when due and
ensuring that they are completed. Arranging replacement vehicles if required. To ensure that any vehicles involved in road traffic collisions are reported to the insurance and our accident
services company to ensure they are repaired and our insurance company are informed in a timely manner.
* Deal with any complaints that are received with regards to our employees driving or parking either through direct contact with members of the public or complaints received through the Customer
Care department and other authorities.
* Involved in the mobilisation and de-mobilisation of contracts throughout the country, travelling to the relevant areas, taking part in client meetings with regards to their vehicle requirements.

* My initial Modern Apprenticeship placement was within Environment Department, Transport Depot. There I dealt with Refuse, Parks & Gardens and Fleet Vehicles. This included inputting information
regarding vehicle defects and ensuring all information is filed accurately. Ensuring keys for vehicles are handed in to the office by the end of the day and locked away securely.
* Working along side the Public Protection department with regards to the Taxi licensing, driver licensing and MOT of private hire vehicles.
* I was given a new placement within the Finance & Performance Department, within a general office dealing with staff and the general public.
* I was also a part time temporary clerical assistant within the Payroll Section of Wrexham County Borough Council dealing with paying salaries of over 6,000 employees.
