I recently gained practical experience in a tramping role with NAS Group in Newton Aycliffe, where I operated a Class 1 vehicle with a 16 ft curtain-side trailer to transport a variety of goods—including beer kegs and building materials—across the UK.

During this time, I developed key skills such as reversing into tight loading bays and working efficiently in locations with restricted access. I also received training on proper load strapping techniques, which reinforced my understanding of load security and compliance.

Although my time in the role was brief—five days—I gained valuable insight into the demands of national haulage work. I ultimately chose to move on due to a preference against long periods sleeping in the cab, but I remain highly motivated to continue my driving career in roles that offer home-based or more structured shift patterns.
