When I joined The Alex I was employed as a kitchen porter. My job was to wash up, put deliveries away, ensure stock rotation, cleaning of the kitchen and delivery areas, vak packing and most importantly do as the Head Chef/Chefs ask in the most punctual and effective manner. Within 2 months I was promoted to a Trainee Chef where I started at our sister restaurant Cafe Bencotto, here I learnt how to do the pizza section, time management and how to handle myself under pressure in a busy and stressful environment. Within 3 weeks I was on my own running pizza. Then 2-3 months I returned to The Alex as a Commis Chef and joined the team of chefs I was taught larder section by this time I had started my NVQ course. My responsibilities had increased and my abilities to prep, listen, and complete complex tickets and be able to go on garnish two days a week in The Brasserie. I am also left on my own in The Cafe Bar to complete breakfast service and the prep in the mornings. I got promoted to Demi Chef De Partie in June 2012. I got promoted to a Chef De Partie in June 2013. I have completed NVQ level 2 course with Otley College

My responsibilies were:
Setting up and running of the Internet site. This included being responsible for ensuring the correct profit margin were being achieved.
I also liaise with the shop manager regarding the ordering requirements for the Internet site.
I set up the shop and everything to go with it such as the site, PayPal, the contact with the courier and liaise with the Post Office regarding rates and the items required to deliver the parcels.
I also covered the managers days off so I have experience with cash handling, customer service and I am responsible.
