WORK EXPERIENCE

Driver
HGV Class – Birmingham
February 2018 to Present
After taking a few months off since my return to the UK I was offered a position of HGV Class 2 Driver with Cross Transport.This is my first position as a HGV Class 2 Driver.
I am responsible for vehicle checks, loading and unloading, securing load and driving an 18 tonne lorry.
This position also includes tramping between 5-6 nights a week.

Bus Driver

Having gained some valuable experience with National Express I was given the opportunity to work in a different country.
This has proved to be a different but exciting challenge compared to driving on mainland UK.
My responsibilities were very similar to National Express with driving conditions and roads very challenging, something I have thoroughly enjoyed.

My Responsibilities here would include vehicle inspection checks, dealing with passengers, transporting passengers along a designated route, abiding to rules and regulations of the highway code and all aspects of health and safety.
Working various shift patterns consisting of early shifts, split shifts and late nights.

Having spent just over 20 years in the catering trade I felt I needed a change of career and a new challenge as well as wanting to return to Birmingham.
I accepted a position of Re-locations Driver for a major re-locations company. This was a whole new challenge with different responsibilities.
Here I was responsible for the safe transportation of customers furniture both commercial and domestic. Driving various vehicles including 7.5 tonne, 3.5 tonne and transit vans. Also responsible for Vehicle checks as well as the safe and secure loading/unloading of the vehicle.

After deciding to pursue a career in the catering trade I was offered the position of Kitchen Porter at British Gas West Midlands. Having agreed to accept the position I soon gained recognition and was promoted to Commis Chef.
Having shown a keen and enthusiastic interest in food I was soon given the opportunity to further my knowledge when I was offered the position of Chef De Partie at The Longmynd Hotel in Church Stretton. Gaining invaluable experience I successfully applied for the position of Sous Chef at the same establishment. I spent a total of 4 years here and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I took my first position of Head Chef with Spirit Group at The Unicorn, Plymouth in 1995 and would remain with the same company working as Head Chef in various establishments all over the UK including London, Bristol, Manchester, Swindon and Devon.

My responsibilities included staff recruitment, staff training, staff rotas, stock taking, product ordering, menu planning, cooking, health and safety and adhering to EHO requirements.
