Personal Statement

I am a hard working individual that is trying to build a career in the driving industry as it is what I enjoy doing. I am very diligent and thorough when driving and always make sure that the vehicle and load is taken care of. I am used to driving for long periods of time to different locations. And I always strive to make sure that they reach their destination on time. I am up to date with the current working time directive laws and I am a self-motivated team player and I also feel I am able to organize my routes to ensure I can do the most work possible in the amount of time I have. I have great administration skills. I always ensure that I log my mileage and fill in the necessary paperwork at the start and end of each day.

Apprentice
After first leaving school I worked as an apprentice barber. I worked for the company for over 12 months before deciding that it wasn’t for me and that I wanted to join the army at the time. Unfortunately I never joined the army and I ended up going to college to study gym instructing. Working at the barber shop I learnt a lot about customer service.

2009 – 2011

I worked as a sale assistant part time while I was studying gym instructing at college. This was a great job which I really enjoyed at the time. I learnt about customer service, product selling, till management and also stock taking. After I finished college I wanted something permanent as I wasn’t receiving many hours from the company so I left and went to work for the cooperative.

I worked as a drivers mate for 3 years with the Co. operative this job I would say made me want to become a hgv driver. While I was here I learnt the rules and regulations for drivers and I would say what the role as hgv driver typically includes in a normal working day.

After leaving the cooperative I got another drivers mate job working for a company called Bidvest. This was a very physical role but again I learnt about how hgv drivers work and what is required by them. This was working for an agency at the time and I wanted something more secure.

I worked for an asbestos removal company which was a very physical role whilst working there I received lots of training to do with working in the building industry such as my cscs card. Doing this job is what motivated me to become a hgv driver.

I am currently a hgv driver for Kerry fresh foods. Which delivers chilled food across the UK. But now after passing my class 1 am keen to forward my career in the driving industry or would like to work for a more reputable company as a class 2 driver.
