Personal Profile

A passionate and creative individual with a degree in Footwear design with over two years experience as a Footwear design and Admin assistant for Boden. My unique design style has seen me win four awards and is very versatile, creative and trend led. I have a self motivated and driven attitude which allows me to adapt to working independently or well as part of a team. I also have intern, freelance and over five years of retail store experience, working for fashion forward companies in fast paced environments.

·         De Montfort University: (2010-2013) BA Hons in Footwear Design: 2:1

·         Leicester College: (2009 -2010) Art & Design Foundation: Pass and NCFE Level 2 Extended Certification in creative craft.

Design Experience

·         Boden: (February 2015- August 2017) Footwear design and admin assistant working closely with junior and senior designers, buyers and merchandisers as part of the accessories team. Responsibilities included making mood boards, trend research, liaising with suppliers and factories, attending fit sessions, CAD design and specs, legal copyright, organising samples and general administration.

·         Gareth Pugh: An intern at luxury label Gareth Pugh where I helped with the creation of window displays, pattern cutting, errands and ad hoc tasks.

·         Rruga premium ladies footwear brand: Footwear design intern for a ladies start up brand designing fully customizable ranges and ready to wear collections

·         Tikashoe Bridal Footwear: My first freelance design job for a ladies bridal company setting up in Sheffield

·         INESCOP and TPSP, Elda, Spain and Cione Footwear Clinic, Loughborough: I won experience working with INESCOP seeing how orthopaedic shoes and insoles were made. I had my winning design made up; working closely with a shoemaker; selecting components and watching my design get put together.

Design/Fashion Awards and exhibitions

·         In December 2013, I was asked to exhibit my orthopaedic custom designed shoes for the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers for a permanent exhibition at St Margaret’s Patten church, London

·         My final major project collection was exhibited at an event in Gloucestershire in July 2013 for the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers.

·         Winner of the Pattenmakers Scarr-Hall Memorial Award 2012

·         Winner of a footwear design award in Biomechanics, creating a footwear design to correct my skeletal alignment.

·         Second Prize-winner from the Worshipful Company of Glovers in a national accessory Glove Design Competition.

·         Designed a menswear collaboration with Jeffery West and my design was placed in an exhibition at Northampton Shoe Museum which was visited by celebrities such as Alan Carr and shown on national news.

·         One of three winners for an insole design award in Biomechanics for the creation of an innovative, skeletal correcting design in December 2011

·         Short listed as a finalist to represent the Midlands in an ASOS Street Style Star Competition where I was featured as a fashion role model for ASOS on their website and have been featured on several fashion blogs for personal style.

Further Employment History

·         Topshop, Highcross Leicester: (September 2010-February 2015) Sales Advisor:

I repeatedly gained recognition and awards for excellent customer service and personal style. I was also trained on administration and operations (accounting for delivery and new lines, paperwork, cashing up and balancing figures) and visual merchandising (working on store layout and styling mannequins). My store won Store of the year in 2011 for its service, strong fashion sense, merchandising and teamwork which was exciting to be part of.

·         De Montfort University: (December 2012-September 2013) Brand Ambassador:

Duties as a DMU Brand Ambassador involved assisting with open days, being filmed for case studies, recruiting applicants to Art and Design as well as being one of the faces of the University and its prospectus.

·         River Island, Highcross Leicester: (October 2009-July 2010) Sales and Product Advisor for menswear.

Other achievements

·         I was selected for Jury service where I sat on a jury for two trials. I played an active role where I co-ran the deliberation meetings so we could come to a fair and evidence based decision.

·         Completed a day course at the Northampton University school of Leather-sellers

·         I was a Footwear Design Student Representative where responsibility, communication and organisation played key roles. I have been recognized in making many positive changes to the course.
