JOB TITLE: Transport Operator

LOCATION: Telford

HOURS: Sunday night to Friday morning 22:00 – 06:30 (night shift)

Job Purpose:

The Transport Operator will be responsible for ensuring compliance is met when dispatching drivers whilst also being a point of contact for drivers to raise defects, loading issues, routing queries. This is an integral role to the daily operation as it enables issues to overcome quickly and with clear communication informs the day shift of any relevant information.

Key Accountabilities:

Dispatch drivers (Check driving cards)
Agency Inductions daily/weekly/yearly.
Arrange defect rectification / call outs when needed.
Complete handover action list from day shift and provide handover communications back.
Communicating driver ETA’s with relevant departments when necessary.
Analysing and solving logistic problems.
Dealing with driver queries or communicating them to the Transport Shift Manager.
Completing return to work meetings with drivers
Vehicle walk around checks
Encourage a positive and engaged driver force.
Key Experiences and Skills Required:

Admin experience required.
Driving Experience advantageous.
Microsoft Navision experience advantageous.
Working in an HGV driver facing role environment advantageous.
Basic Microsoft software skills.
Independent working experience required.
Ability to motivate in a challenging, transport environment.
Desirables Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required:

Ability to self-manage workload through prioritising.
Ability to communicate effectively via email and telephone.
Keen eye for detail in completing tasks.

CONTRACT HAULAGE WORK AVAILABLE ALL YEAR ROUND FOR OWNER-DRIVERS AND FLEET OWNERS WITH RIGID OR ARTICULATED VEHICLES.
