My client, a Commercial vehicle repairer with different sites, is looking for an ambitious and dedicated Depot Manager / Service Manager / Fleet Manager / Workshop Manager / Operations Manager / HGV VMU Manager / Vehicle Maintenance Manager to join their site in Reading.
A Depot Manager / Service Manager / Fleet Manager / Workshop Manager / Operations Manager / HGV VMU Manager / Vehicle Maintenance Manager with previous experience of running a busy commercial vehicle depot or VMU,is desirable, someone who has managed a large, busy site.
The Depot Manager / Service Manager / Fleet Manager / Workshop Manager / Operations Manager / HGV VMU Manager / Vehicle Maintenance Manager will have a strong desire to take a depot to the next level. You will need to create a good working environment and motivate your team. You should be able to recognise their development needs, allow others to express an opinion and give feedback. As the Depot Fleet Manager you should be able to reach target agreements with employees and to monitor the level of target achievement.
The Candidate does need to have industry qualifications in Commercial vehicle repairs or minimum level 3 Vehicle Maintenance and repair or mechanical engineering. You will have previous working experience in a workshop environment, namely HGV and you will have previous or current experience working in a managerial role.
The role of Depot Manager / Service Manager / Fleet Manager / Workshop Manager / Operations Manager / HGV VMU Manager / Vehicle Maintenance Manager:
Planning and controlling the daily workload of the workshop, office & drivers to ensure customer fleet requirements are met and update schedules
Planning, controlling and monitoring processes in customer service areas
Ensuring planning for facilities, bays, machines, tools, diagnosis installations etc are carried out correctly
Controlling cost management
Developing and building professional and effective working relationships with transport teams and regional engineers
Liaising with customers regarding service schedules, updates, authorities and completion of work
Ensuring all staff are doing the jobs correctly and assisting if the need arises
Regularly reviewing prices for services, discussing with senior management and adept them to suit the market
Daily monitoring of compliance to conform with O-Licence to ensure the customer is safe, legal and compliant
Processing purchase orders accurately
Maintaining discipline in the whole site
Monitoring job times on the system for each fitter against each job worked on
Ensuring that the site is tidy, housekeeping standards are maintained and site is secure
Ensuring that all technical equipment and tools are available, maintained in a proper fashion and ready for use
Ensuring all Health & Safety arrangements are in place
Promoting Health and Safety within the depot
Attending management meetings
Reporting on the KPI’s for the depot
Undertake any reasonable duty specified by the Company Directors.
This is a hands on and busy Depot Manager / Service Manager / Fleet Manager / Workshop Manager / Operations Manager / HGV VMU Manager / Vehicle Maintenance Manager role and will require someone who is able to ensure the depot is running smoothly and efficiently. It is important that you ensure the fulfilment of contract obligations to the customer, delivering on all KPIs, namely Compliance management, VOR performance and MOT performance.
Requirements for the Depot Manager / Service Manager / Fleet Manager / Workshop Manager / Operations Manager / HGV VMU Manager / Vehicle Maintenance Manager:
– NVQ or Equivalent qualifications in Heavy Vehicle maintenance and repair or Mechanical Engineering
– Proven ability of managing either a depot / VMU or a busy service department
