Ideal candidates for the Securities Division are dynamic, quick-thinking self-starters who have a real passion for the markets. The ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues from a diversity of backgrounds and experiences is crucial. Those who succeed in Securities thrive in the fast-paced, constantly changing environment where no two days are the same.
You will join the Leveraged Finance credit trading desk as a junior Loans Trader. You will be responsible for daily tasks including P&L reporting, market commentary, pricing and booking trades and hedging fx. You will ideally be trading your own credits within 6 months, subject to your experience and development.
HOW YOU WILL FULFIL YOUR POTENTIAL
- Work within a team of credit traders to assist with daily tasks and risk management
- Work with desk analysts to conduct research into different issuers to help form your own credit views/opinions
- Build internal relationships across Sales, Trading, Research and Syndication
- Learn to interpret technical and fundamental market factors to help determine book positioning
- Work with Credit Sales teams to develop an understanding of the needs and behaviors of key clients
- Create trade ideas to pitch to Sales and clients
- Develop relationships with clients to facilitate mutually successful trading relationships
- Learn to price loans and understand various risk measures
- Operate within a continuously evolving regulatory environment
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Good mathematical skills although detailed technical knowledge is not required
- A mathematical degree may be beneficial but is not a requirement
- Demonstrable experience of working within a team environment
- Experience in a client-facing environment and the ability to build relationships
- Keen interest in macroeconomics as well as individual companies on a micro level
- Experience in corporate credit analysis is beneficial but not a requirement
- Experience in leveraged finance, banking, and/or capital markets is beneficial but not a requirement
- Experience in a trading environment is beneficial but not a requirement
- Proficiency in Excel is required, knowledge of VBA would be beneficial
