Class 1 HGV low loader driver

Job Summary:

Reeds is a successful, national organisation with over 40 years’ experience in the construction and engineering sector. Having experienced significant growth in recent years, we are seeking a reliable and professional Class 1 (C+E) HGV low loader driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation or machinery across the UK, ensuring all deliveries are completed efficiently and in compliance with legal and company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Safely operate Class 1 HGV vehicles for deliveries and collections
Conduct vehicle checks before and after each shift, reporting any defects
Ensure all loads are secure and comply with weight and safety regulations
Complete delivery paperwork and use electronic logging systems where required
Adhere to all road transport laws, including drivers’ hours and tachograph regulations
Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients and delivery points
Plan routes effectively to meet delivery schedules
Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the vehicle
Requirements

Applicants must hold the following

Valid UK Class 1 (C+E) driving licence
Valid Driver CPC qualification
Digital Tachograph Card
Desirable skills and attributes.

Low Loading: 1 year (preferred)
Loading and unloading Plant Machinery: 1 year (preferred)
Good knowledge of UK road networks and driving regulations
Strong understanding of drivers’ hours and Working Time Directive rules
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Good communication and organisational skills
Health & Safety

The role requires strict adherence to health and safety procedures, including manual handling and safe driving practices. Drivers must remain compliant with all transport legislation and company policies at all times.

Hourly Rate: £19 p/hr

This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday flexibility with working hours would be required, including occasional weekends.
