HGV Class 2 Driver – Multi-Drop Delivery

Pay: £14.50 per hour

Job type: Full-time, permanent Hours: 42.5 to 50 hours per week Schedule: Monday to Friday Location: Stoke-on-Trent, in person

We are looking for a reliable and professional HGV Class 2 Driver to join our logistics team in

Stoke-on-Trent.

About the role

As an HGV Class 2 Driver, you will be responsible for delivering goods safely and efficiently while maintaining excellent compliance, presentation and customer service standards.

You will carry out daily vehicle checks, complete delivery processes using an iPad, handle goods responsibly, and communicate effectively with the transport and call centre teams throughout the day.

Key responsibilities

● Carry out daily vehicle inspections using an iPad, with sign-off from the Transport Manager

● Ensure the vehicle is safely loaded, secure and within weight limits

● Complete daily walk-around checks in line with RHA standards

● Follow all company policies, including Health and Safety and Standards of Performance

● Deliver goods safely and efficiently in line with company procedures

● Collect customer payments where instructed using the iPad

● Report any vehicle defects immediately to the Transport Manager

● Report accidents promptly in line with company procedures

● Follow all UK and European driving regulations, including drivers’ hours and tachograph rules

● Maintain polite and professional communication with the call centre

● Notify the call centre of any delivery discrepancies or issues

● Check goods with the customer where applicable and obtain signatures

● Ensure returned products are correctly reported and brought back to the depot in excellent condition

● Refuel the vehicle daily with road diesel and AdBlue in line with company policy

● Remove rubbish and cardboard from the vehicle at the end of the shift

● Park the vehicle in the designated bay ready for the next day’s loading

● Wear company uniform and PPE at all times

● Safeguard the vehicle, its contents and any cash collections throughout the working day

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who is dependable, safety-conscious and able to represent the business professionally on the road and at customer sites.

Essential

● HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence

● Valid Driver CPC

● Digital Tachograph Card

● Good knowledge of road safety and UK driving regulations

● Ability to carry out manual handling duties, including loading and unloading

● Strong time management and communication skills

● Ability to work responsibly under pressure and remain flexible

Preferred

● Previous experience in a similar driving role

● At least 1 year of driving experience required, with 2 years preferred

● Ability to commute to or relocate to Stoke-on-Trent before starting work

Standards and compliance

This role requires a driver who can consistently maintain high standards of safety, presentation and operational discipline.

You will be expected to:

● Keep the vehicle roadworthy and compliant at all times

● Follow site-specific and customer-specific delivery instructions

● Use all company equipment correctly before leaving the depot

● Store fridge and freezer items correctly if the customer is not present

● Use vehicle safes correctly for any money collection

● Work flexibly across other areas of Pentagon Food Ltd if required
