We are recruiting for a Transport Supervisor to join our team on a full time and permanent basis. Working hours will be on a rotation to ensure coverage across our teams of night and day drivers. Please note that as you may be providing cover to our HGV driving team, prior experience of working as a HGV1 driver is essential for this position.

You will help to ensure the on time and in full delivery of sandwiches and food to go items to our customers. You will be a highly motivated and experienced driver, helping to ensure that we maintain food safety standards throughout the journey to our customers.

What you will be doing:

Overseeing and coordinating the activities of a team of drivers to ensure efficient and safe transportation of food goods, you can expect to:

Assist the Transport Manager with the assignment of routes and schedules to drivers.
Use appropriate geographical and transport network knowledge to maximise efficiency planning.
Monitor the progress of deliveries to ensure timely arrivals.
Resolve any issues or delays that occur during transit.
Offer ongoing support and guidance to drivers to help them improve their performance and safety.
Work a rotating shift pattern to ensure coverage across our team of day and night van drivers plus HGV drivers.
Provide sickness or holiday cover for drivers (for this reason, you will be expected to spend time with our team of drivers to learn each route).
Complete all food safety and transport documentation as required.
Assist the Transport Manager in conducting regular vehicle inspections and maintenance checks.
Deputise for the Transport Manager in their absence.
Participate in a weekly rotation with the Transport Manager to handle incoming calls during and after business hours.
Maintain clear and effective communication with the dispatch team and drivers to ensure smooth operations.
Provide regular reports on fleet performance, driver behaviour, and any incidents or accidents to the Transport Manager.
With support from the Transport Administrator, you will have the responsibility for the daily basket count, making sure the tracker is updated and any anomalies are reported.
About You:

You will be a professional and experienced driver, with a class 1 and class 2 licence
Have had a full UK / EU / EEA driving licence for at least 24 months with no more than 6 penalty points.
In date driver CPC
Foster a positive work environment, motivating drivers to perform at their best.

Are personable with a good sense of humour and excellent communication skills.
Are able to take the initiative and use common sense.
Care about making a difference for customers and colleagues.
Can stay calm under pressure.
