JOB VACANCY – PLEASE SHARE – Ossett Based

We are seeking to employ an additional class 1 hiab driver. This will be driving a manual gear box DAF XF. We are a small independent firm with strong family values and as such treat every employee as a person and not a number. This position is based in Ossett. Earnings of over £50k annually including night out money is to be expected. The job role would suit someone with reasonable physical ability due to nature of the job, with potential requiring hand balling loads or needing to climb on top of items to attach lifting equipment

You MUST hold your ALLMI card in order to be able to head straight to work with the wagon along with relevant experience of using hiab cranes.

The job involves lifting anything and everything. We work around the 24 hour clock face, with frequent early starts accompanied with late finishes. We work in all weather come rain or shine. Going to London on a Friday is a real possibility, being away 5 nights a week is a possibility, doing 65hours + is a possibility,however my current employees will vouch for me when I say I try my upmost not to stitch anybody up. We offer good rates of pay which will be discussed directly with any potential employee.

Basic Hours will be 7-5 (10hrs) guaranteed Monday to Friday. Weekend work is occasionally required and I would expect anybody seeking to apply for the current position to do their share of this. Weekend work typically consists of a few hours on a Saturday morning or running out on a Sunday afternoon/evening.This doesn’t limit the work to potentially being a full Saturday/Sunday shift. Overtime rates will be applicable

Applicant must be hard working, polite, well presented with a positive attitude towards seeing the job through in a safe and efficient manor.

Employment will initiate on a 3 month probation period.

All we ask our drivers to do is turn up on time, follow directions from management and do their best to be helpful on site assisting with the job, we ask noting unreasonable. Poor time keeping will not be tolerated along with general poor attitude and working practices. We don’t need phone calls to complain how sh*t the job is on that given day, take the rough with the smooth and on to the next one

Responsibilities

Operate a lorry in a safe and responsible manner, following all traffic laws and regulations.
Transport goods to designated locations, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining the integrity of the cargo.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
Load and unload cargo, including securing flatbed loads appropriately.
Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents that occur during transport.
Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.
Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding safety and compliance.
Skills

Proven experience as a commercial driver with a valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle type.
Experience as a delivery driver is highly advantageous.
Familiarity with flatbed driving techniques and securing loads safely.
Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best practices in driving.
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail for record keeping.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication skills.
