About the Technology Division
Our Technology Division supports, manages and develops all aspects of Technology Delivery to the Macquarie Group.
Enterprise Technology is focused on the technology operations, both for applications and infrastructure, as well as infrastructure service development, engineering and delivery. Enterprise Technology operates a global 24/7 support structure utilizing around the clock support from resource centres, third party partners and follow the sun teams in our global financial hub locations.
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Services – EMEA Network Engineer to join our complex and dynamic Enterprise Technology team based in London.
Our global networks are managed by a partner organisation and we are looking to enhance the Operations function by increasing our internal regional network support capability. The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include:
Network Monitoring
- Monitor and manage network monitoring systems and ticketing systems and be able to establish the impact of alerts and events. The candidate must be able to investigate independently alerts and events that arise and be able to evaluate the impact and raise the incidents, outages and changes required for resolution as required. They will also need to manage the ticket queue.
Troubleshooting
- Manage and troubleshoot issues that arise on the network and resolve issues reported by other IT groups. The candidate must be dynamic and be able to work under pressure to resolve incidents and outages in a complex network environment across many different network technology areas. This may include working across multiple different IT disciplines.
Operational Projects
- Assist with projects to enhance Operations within the organisation. The candidate must be flexible and be able to manage their time efficiently and effectively between operational functions and project work as there will be a requirement to assist with operational projects.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing and auctioning tickets within the Networks queue
- Managing infrastructure components within the global operating environment
- Reactive troubleshooting and resolution of alerts
- Identifying and resolving potential issues proactively
- Owning and resolving production issues and performing root cause analysis
- Managing ongoing upgrade and maintenance of associated platform hardware, and preparing operational reports relating to these platforms
- Manage, perform due diligence and resolve where possible complex problems and escalate in a timely manner
- Working with design teams to review operational readiness of new projects, and actively contribute to solution design and develop standards where appropriate.
- Working closely with the Project, Architecture and Service Owners to address any issues identified
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives and system improvements
- Out of hours on-call on a rota
About you
You will have:
- Good experience in a similar role from a large organisation.
- University degree in computer science/engineering or similar.
- CCNA level at a minimum is required. Cisco Certified Network Professional – CCNP certification is desirable.
- Good knowledge of routing and switching.
- Working knowledge of enterprise firewall solutions (Cisco ASA and Checkpoint)
- Knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls is a desirable
- Knowledge of F5 (LTM and GTM) is desirable
- Working knowledge of UNIX, SNMP, RADIUS, 802.1x and Microsoft Active Directory.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and demanding environment.
- Flexibility and agility to adapt to changing requirements
- Good stakeholder engagement skills with a strong customer service mind set.
- Good time management skills to manage and action business as usual operational tasks as well as execute and deliver operational projects
- Well-developed problem solving skills, with the ability to assimilate data rapidly in order to present solutions effectively.
