Class 2 HGV Driver

Working Days/Hours.
Usual contracted hours of work are 45.25 hours per week.

Normal hours of work will be flexible from:
Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm.
(With breaks in accordance with the EU Working Time Directive 1998).
Saturday mornings 8am – 12pm.
(With one in four Saturday mornings off work).

Job Description:
Ideal for people that don’t want to be stuck in an office all day, this job gets you driving and exploring the country all in the name of work.
Working as a lorry driver, you will be responsible for the safe delivery of goods locally and occasionally nationally. The ideal candidate will be well presented as you will be representing the business when meeting our customers and suppliers. The ideal candidate will be adaptable to their environment and will occasionally be required to help work on the yard between the loadings of vehicles.

Your duties will involve:
Ensuring goods are safely secured
Keeping your vehicle in good condition
Occasional manual work such as loading and unloading the vehicle
Taking the quickest route to and from your destination(s).
(So map reading is always an advantage)

Adequately completing paperwork such as, Delivery and Collection Notes and daily Defect Report Sheets.
Cash handling and occasionally pricing-up loads.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Your key responsibilities may include:
Delivering and collecting skips of all sizes around (mainly) the east midlands, your work will mostly involve the large construction sites and house holders.
Required Skills.
Must be prepared to work in ALL weather conditions and adaptable to meet business priorities. A clear understanding of the English language and good communication skills are required for this job role.
It is essential for you to be punctual, presentable, reliable, hard-working, trustworthy and honest.
An awareness of how to work safely and effectively in a small to medium sized industrial environment is required.

You will need to have a minimum of a Class 2 HGV license and it would be preferable if you possess experience on Skip lorries and Hook Vehicles. The role is a full time permanent position with a view for the successful candidate to start as soon as possible.

Essential and Desired Skills:
Availability to travel to and from the yard without difficulty. Possession of a Full UK Driving Licence, Class 2 HGV Licence and completed CPC is essential.

ADR Qualification is desired but not essential as full training will be provided.

Experience:
Experience would be preferred but training will be given on all aspects of the job. You must have a clean driving licence and good knowledge of local areas.
Experience of working within a metal recycling environment or similar is an advantage but not essential.

Education:
Secondary and post-secondary education qualifications (e.g. GCSE Maths and English) are not an essential requirement for this job role.
