About the Role

Merlyn Phoenix Limited based in Shepperton is hiring for HGV Class 1 drivers for trunking work.

Rotas are planned to be flexible, balancing your needs and the needs of our main customer, the world’s largest online retailor

We are a rapidly expanding business and we have a contract with the worlds largest online retailor, providing long-term careers for our drivers.

No loading or unloading is required. No tramping great facilities and free refreshments at the fulfilment centres

Shift Patterns

· Various shift patterns available

· 24/7 operation working 363 days a year covering weekends and bank holidays

· Shifts are predominantly nights with some day and evening shifts

· Average shift length 12 hours including POA and breaks

· Days / Afternoon / Night shifts available

· Full time / Part time we are flexible

HGV Driver Benefits

· Permanent contract base salary £39,000 pa based on 5 shifts per week

· Ability to earn up to £45,000 with overtime

· Contributory company pension

· 28 days paid holiday based on 5 shifts per week

· Driver is not required to assist with any unloading/loading.

· Driving from fulfilment centre to fulfilment centre or warehouse/ distribution centre

· Traction work only– drop/swap trailers. With boxed trailers only

· 1 Driver CPC paid for per year (subject to terms and completion of probation)

HGV Driver Requirements

· Hold a valid commercial Driving License with the Correct Categories C / C+E

· Have a Professional Driving Qualification called the Full Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)

· Hold a Digital Tachograph / Smart Card

· Pass a background check (below) to the extend it is permitted by the applicable law

· Pass a standard drug and alcohol test (below) to the extend it is permitted by the applicable law

· Be able to speak & read English satisfactorily

· Have a maximum of 6 penalty points in the Driver’s License (as well as no DD, DR or IN endorsements)

· Approved drivers consist of drivers with BGC results as “Meets Requirements” and drug and alcohol tests with negative results.

HGV Driver Responsibilities

· Use route navigation apps and knowledge of area to deliver packages to warehouse on time

· Interact with clients’ colleagues and suppliers in a professional manner

· Work occasional evenings and weekends

· Complete daily maintenance checks on delivery trucks and notify manager of any issues

· Report issues to vehicles and delays to schedule to relevant person in real time

· Drive in inclement weather, such as light snow

· Maintain electronic logs to track routes and deliveries

· There is no loading /unloading or cargo securing requirements (the fulfilment centre team will take care of those)
