HGV Class 1 Driver

Job Title: HGV Driver / Brand Ambassador
Hours: 38.75 to 48 hours per week – Monday to Friday Days
Salary: £25,500 – £31,500
Benefits: Pension: 6% employer, 5% employee, 28 days holiday (including statutory), death in service 3x annual salary.
Location: Halifax

Overall purpose of the job of the Class 1 HGV Driver

To be responsible for the safe transportation, delivery and collection of units around the country.
Completing vehicle familiarisation and introduction into service with customer where required in order to introduce them to the new vehicle(s) added to their fleet.
Responsibilities of the Class 1 HGV Driver

Operating Commercial vehicles up to and over 7.5 tonnes, including rigid and articulated vehicles where required.
Manage the safe loading / unloading of units.
Ensuring loads are safely secured and inline with driving regulations.
Delivery / return of units to / from customer premises and our sites.
On / off hire inspections as necessary to include images of the unit/s being delivered and / or collected.
Completion of collection / delivery notes/paperwork as required.
Customer (driver) product familiarisation at point of delivery as / when required.
Carrying out minor technical adjustments to units as required at point of delivery, such as fifth wheel height adjustment, mirror fitment, RSL adjustment.
Manage own tacho card, drivers hours, vehicle servicing in term of ‘O’ licence compliance and collection / delivery bookings in conjunction with the transport coordinator
Driving in line with the Highway Code, Road Safety and Vehicles Rules, for both long and short distances.
Planning delivery schedules and routes with transport co-ordinator.
Following traffic reports and adapting routes if necessary.
Keeping up-to-date logbooks.
Carrying out basic routine maintenance, such as oil, tyre and brake checks.
Person Specification of the Class 1 HGV Driver

Excellent planning and administration skills.
Able to conduct themselves as appropriate for being a brand ambassador for our business
Able to use a computer and the main software packages competently.
Able to operate and control equipment.
Qualifications required for the Class 1 HGV Driver

HGV Licence – category C and E (Class1).
Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) Qualification.
Designated ‘O’ licence holder.
