Winter Maintenance Operative (Driver)

idverde have recently secured a number of new contracts for the delivery of highway winter maintenance services within the North West area, we are therefore seeking to recruit winter maintenance operatives to support our services in the Trafford, Greater Manchester area. We are looking for experienced, reliable and flexible staff who can work days, nights and weekends working on an on-call basis. These work are scheduled to commence form the end of October 2020

The Role
To operate Winter Maintenance Vehicles (Gritters) on set routes across the North West Region. You will be required to work unsociable hours including weekends. If there is a call out you are expected to arrive at the depot ready for work within one hour. Generally expected working times are approx. 3-4 hours shifts, mostly at unsociable hours including weekends. Please note that these are fixed term contracts through until 12 April 2020 with the potential for the positions to become full time engaged in alternative seasonal workstreams.

What you’ll be doing
As a Winter Maintenance Operative (Driver)you will:

Ø Turn up at appropriate time as requested ready to drive

Ø Drive at appropriate speeds according to the conditions

Ø Grit the roads at the prescribed spread rate

Ø Clean off the gritter after use

Ø Report any issues or instances where it was not possible to grit

Who we’re looking for
The following qualities/experience are preferred but not essential:

Ø Full clean driving licence with Category C (HGV) entitlement (training may be provided)

Ø Previous experience of this type of work

Ø Good communication skills

Ø Professional attitude

Ø City and Guilds 6159 Winter Service training and certification (training may be provided)

Working hours for this project will be as follows:

24 hour call during the period)

Rate of Pay

Fixed rate of pay £340 per week for on-call work irrespective of the hours worked

CONTRACT HAULAGE WORK AVAILABLE ALL YEAR ROUND FOR OWNER-DRIVERS AND FLEET OWNERS WITH RIGID OR ARTICULATED VEHICLES.

We are looking for owner-drivers, fleet owners, and HGV drivers (Class 1 or 2) based anywhere in the UK and interested in taking the next step up and becoming owner-operators and transport company owners. To get started and apply for an Operator’s Licence, you need to have £8,000 which is a requirement of the UK and EU transport regulations (you won’t spend it). We can help you with the rest of the process.
