The Role: This is a senior leadership role within the energy editorial team, responsible for ensuring the development of strong talent and benchmarks-specific expertise across the market reporting groups, with a particular focus on fully meeting all expectations for training and development of price reporters outlined in the IOSCO Principles for Oil Price Reporting Agencies and European Benchmark Regulation. The leader in this role works in close collaboration with editorial training specialists, senior managers around the world, the HR team, and others to ensure that cross-Platts training is fully implemented into the oil and shipping teams, and that MOC-specific training and best practices are developed. The director is responsible for managing bench members delivered to the oil and shipping team by the global bench program, ensuring they are fully immersed into their teams. The director coordinates internal and external development for users of Platts information (particularly assessments), and training for potential new participants in the MOC process. The director also support franchise initiatives that require deep knowledge of Platts editorial coverage in general and MOC assessment processes in particular.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and document best practice meetings for MOC price assessment teams, develop training for common themes arising from MOC methodology, best practices and dispute resolutions. Build and maintain a global reference library for issues and resolutions, highlighting best practice around the world.
- Ensure that cross-Platts training initiatives are fully implemented by the oil and shipping teams. Support the cross-editorial training specialists in their work, particularly when developing and revising training materials related to market reporting. Help drive core business processes like New Hire training where needed.
- Manage bench members delivered to the oil and shipping team by the global bench program, ensuring they are fully immersed into their teams. Support the bench program manager in all aspects of running the global bench as needed.
- Work with the Structured Market Engagement program, regional heads and price group to offer standardized external training on Platts and MOC methodology to entities in market, and potential new MOC participants. Coordinate monthly external training and manage training of reporters to give this class.
- Build requalification tests for MOC assessment operations and Platts pricing processes for front line reporters and managers. Coordinate eWindow training and ongoing requalification of eWindow and manual window operators.
- Support the design and implementation of franchise-wide initiatives like new platforms innovation as a Subject Matter Expert in price reporting, particularly for oil, petrochemicals, LNG, shipping and other MOC price assessment environments
Essential Skills:
- Degree educated (business, finance, economics, etc..) with proven and demonstratable experience in pricing with a detailed knowledge of assessment methods and processes for executing changes to pricing methodology and the introduction of new pricing assessments.
- Proven leadership in methodology development and handling disputes/strong problem and conflict resolution
- Subject matter expert in energy commodities/trading/ markets and the competitive landscape and a deep specialized knowledge of the Oil industry.
- Proven strong interpersonal and relationship building skills and ability to influence across the organization.
- A strong leader who can accomplish results motivating and inspiring others and develops and coaches team for high performance
- Strong presentation skills to present at industry events, professional associations and conferences.
- Good written & presentations skills are required given the high level of internal and external communication
- Process orientated to drive process improvements
- Tenacity and strong decision making ability and ability to gain buy-in to decisions and drive issues to completion.
