As a Barclays Credit Specialist, you will be responsible for delivery of the Credit Plan by proactively engaging with nominated Bankers to promote Credit and ensure that the appropriate specialists are engaged in all opportunities to deliver the net new credit target through active defence of current deals, early renewals and closing on leads. This includes handling credit related service enquiries, day to day management of credit facilities and the sale of new credit products, all whilst building high quality relationships and delivering exceptional service. Credit products include loans, investment leverage, overdrafts & bespoke solutions and at times regulated mortgages.

Our Overseas Services business provides banking, credit, cash management and investment expertise to our clients through a value adding relationship-led service, product specialists and digital channels. Operating from London, Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Glasgow and Dubai we directly serve eight client segments of Fiduciaries, Family Offices, Captives, Funds Administrators, Corporates, Premier Global, Local Business and Local Premier & Retail, together with supporting the booking of High Net Worth (HNW) and Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) clients onto our Jersey and Isle of Man platforms.

As a Credit Specialist, your main responsibilities will involve:
• Providing an exceptional client service to a high net worth and ultra-high net worth client base throughout the end to end credit process
• Pro-actively keeping clients informed on the progress of their applications and taking necessary actions and ownership to ensure they are progressed appropriately
• Ensuring that any complaints are dealt with promptly and escalated immediately if they cannot be resolved within appropriate timescales and ensuring that the client and banker receive a world class level of support
• Engaging with the broader business, building close ties with the Front Office, Credit Product, Credit Risk, Legal and Service Team colleagues
• Working within the appropriate governance and control environment so that legal, regulatory, audit and compliance responsibilities of senior colleagues are discharged effectively – with any risks or concerns escalated
• Providing high quality support to the Structured Lending & Lending Support teams to enable the prompt processing, quick execution of simple credit and the correct management of complex & high value bespoke credit solutions

As a Credit Specialist, your skills and qualifications will include:
• Holding a deep technical knowledge and experience of the credit market and will have experience structuring lending transactions across a variety of markets, jurisdictions, client types and forms of collateral
• Previous experience in a front-line client facing role with a demonstrated ability to deliver high quality service to demanding client base and a proven track record and experience in the sales, service and day to day management of credit products, along with developed credit skills
• Proven knowledge and experience of driving business and negotiating credit transactions and a broad knowledge of domestic and international financial marketplaces
• Having a solid understanding of the credit market & credit risk and how credit can be optimised to enable this broader agenda and client service
• The ability to communicate at a senior level, with a focus on continuous improvement and a strong desire to develop the business
• The ability to seek to increase and improve your knowledge base and to keep up to date with market trends and developments
