DESCRIPTION – HGV FITTER/MECHANIC

LOCATION – OTTERSHAW, SURREY

SALARY – 35-40k depending on experience.

SUMMARY

Well established family transport company requires full time experienced HGV fitter/mechanic to carry out maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, & MOT preparations/presentation on our fleet and external customers vehicles & trailers either at our workshop or mobile/call out basis, Monday to Friday (possible Saturday if required)

KEY RESONSIBILITIES

· Reporting to the workshop manager you will ensure all vehicles & trailers are maintained, serviced, & repaired to a high quality and an efficient manner

· Complete vehicle inspections in line with DVSA standards

· Carry out MOT preparations (including vehicle wash down where required)

· Present vehicles & trailers for MOT (if appropriate license held)

· Carry out diagnosis or mechanical and electrical faults

· Ensure all job cards, service sheets, & documentation is completed accurately, ensure defects are reported and recorded

· Ensure all workshop facilities, equipment, & tools are kept clean, tidy, & well maintained

· Work within health & safety guidelines

KEY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

· Trained to NVQ/C&G level 3 or equivalent or time served fitter/mechanic

· Recent experience working as a HGV fitter/mechanic

· Strong working knowledge of vehicles & trailers

· Ability to work on own or as part of a team

· Effectively communicate at all levels on a written and verbal basis

· Knowledge of computers and diagnostic platforms/systems

· Willingness to adapt to new processes and develop new skills and participate in training where required

· Class 1 (C+E) driving license (preferred but not essential)

WHAT WE OFFER

· Salary of £35-40k (depending on experience) plus overtime when required

– Load and unload materials and equipment onto trucks or trailers
– Safely operate heavy equipment such as roll-off trucks, dump trucks, and forklifts
– Drive assigned routes to deliver materials to designated locations
– Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations while operating vehicles
– Inspect vehicles before and after each shift to ensure they are in proper working condition
– Maintain accurate records of deliveries and pickups
– Assist with general maintenance and cleaning of equipment and work area

Qualifications:
– Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
– Previous experience operating heavy equipment such as roll-off trucks, dump trucks, or forklifts
– Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as required
– Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
– Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately
– Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to equipment operation
