Full job description
We are currently looking for LGV (HGV) Drivers to join our winter maintenance team based at Salford.

The season will start from 1 st of November until the 1 st of April .

Drivers will officially start at 11pm to 7am, although you must be very flexible and start times will depend on the weather. (You might need to start at 4pm if necessary).

It is essential that you have a LGV (often referred to as HGV) class C or above driving licence along with a CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence) Licence

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Undertake scheduled and unscheduled salting including driving an LGV gritting vehicle,

Monitoring lane widths, plough widths, parked vehicles and any other obstructions/hazards

on the highway

Map reading

Communicate feedback to managers.

Manual /hand salting and snow clearance

Undertake daily checks and maintenance on the vehicle before and after each shift and

report any vehicle defects. Ensuring the vehicle is left in a clean condition at the end of each shift.

Attend to and clear salt blockages/build up on the vehicle chute and spinner.

Attend to straightforward issues and understand the process for referring up for more serious issues.

Undertake dynamic risk assessments and feedback to management.

Complete any associated paperwork/records as required.

Work in line with all policies and procedures and be aware of the obligations.

Comply with health and safety policies, organisational statements and procedures, report any incidents / accidents / hazards.

Undertake any other duties of a similar nature that may be required from time-to-time.
