Transport Administrator

We are pleased to be working with our innovative and globally successful client based in Chelmsford with the recruitment of a Transport Coordinator. The ideal candidate would be someone enthusiastic to start their career in logistics working within the Transport department.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a friendly work environment – for a rapidly growing business!

Location: Chelmsford

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-17:30pm

Salary: £22 – £24,000 per annum, depending on experience

Type: Permanent

Responsibilities -Route planning for HGV vehicles
Booking in jobs with third party haulers
Booking slots for the drivers to collect/shunt containers – VBS system with the port
Liaise with relevant contractors and third-party haulers
Liaise with the company drivers throughout their shift.
Communicate and update with other departments within the company with any delays or cancellations due to staff sickness
Book MOT/Service for the vehicles
Organise and maintain filing system for transport department paperwork.
Follow up on investigations into accidents and incidents as directed by Management.
Call in any breakdowns and adjust work of driver to accommodate
Report any defects to relevant contractors to get repaired
Sending PODs to the POD department.
RequirementsLook presentable, clean, and tidy in the workplace.
Be able to demonstrate a reasonable degree of IT/PC literacy, especially in respect of Microsoft Excel and Word packages
Excellent communication and organisation skills
Good at problem solving
