I believe myself to be an experienced commercially aware Surveyor, self-motivated and able to work and project manage assignments to meet client’s individual requirements. Initially employed on a contract basis, my role was to assist the regional Risk Management Surveyor’s on behalf of LABC Warranty. The role to inspect completed dwellings to attain suitability for issue of “New Build Warranty”. Attend housing development sites across the North East & Cumbria for named clients/developers. Conduct detailed inspections of individual plots, both internally & externally to determine suitable for the issue of buildings warranty. Update site logs with findings and items requiring attention. Issue “Cover Notes” to site manager if requested. Carry out administrative duties: update online records, complete online diary record. Liaise with regional Risk Surveyors, managers, clients as required.
In the last 6 months I have also commenced in-house training as Risk Surveyor. I manage two specific new homes sites and liaise with a Senior Risk Management Surveyor for mentoring/guidance.
Building Surveyor
Asprea Ltd – Sheffield

Appointed to survey and validate insurance claims to domestic properties and commercial businesses covering the North-East & Cumbria region. Direct reporting to the Front Line Field Manager. Liaise directly with both private and commercial clients, attending daily appointments to conduct damage report surveys with estimated costs to replace; providing repair schedule and costs; completing the necessary client’s report for submission into office within strict 24-hour deadline. Survey involves photographing and measuring damaged room/rooms, preparing report and creating scope of works using schedule of rates for the necessary repairs; scope of works creates a Limit of Liability (LOL) for the extent of the claim repairs.
On instances where the Limit of Liability has exceeded Delegated Authority which then requires liaison with a Technical Consultant and reviewing builder’s cost estimates and explanation, negotiating and agreeing figure to return property to its previous state allowing for any wear and tear issues on items. Re-visit damaged properties to deal with request for further information or increases in scope of repair due to unforeseen works. Regular liaison with Desk and Field-based Contract Managers. Surveyed over 5000 properties over 6 years; successfully satisfying all clients’ requirements; following damaged due to fire, flood, storm, etc.

Groundwork’s Contractor who had recently secured contracts to develop new site for affordable housing. Reported to Contract Manager and client. Surveying levels of existing ground and invert levels and to set-out centre lines for the foundation excavations and brickwork up to damp course level.

Appointed to survey and validate insurance claims dealing with insurance companies, Local Authorities and property developers. Reporting to the Managing Director. Validated insurance claims for Crawford & Company, Cunningham Lindsey and the Ashworth Mairs Group, providing a schedule of repairs to insurance claims based on independent schedules of rates. Assisted estimating department to manage tendering on refurbishment projects up to £250k with cost valuation, planning schedule of works, etc. Insurance claims split 50:50 between domestic properties and Local Authorities, developers of commercial/industrial properties.

Working for a Loss Adjusting Company with the Senior Surveyor, attending domestic and commercial properties, assessing damage and to compile scopes of repairs. Responsible for attending domestic, commercial and industrial properties to survey damage caused by fire, flood, vandalism, etc. and compile scopes of repair: after agreement of scopes of repair, would appoint repair partners and attend pre-start meetings to introduce the contractors to the insured to set up a good relationship. Working on properties experiencing subsistence, would return to record movement details using monitoring pins and gauge. • Successfully empathised, dealing both professionally and sympathetically with clients with flood damage claims varying from £5k–£50k caused by the severe flooding in January 2005 in and around Carlisle.
