Data Science Lead – Athena Core – Exec Director

We are looking for an experienced development manager who will help us select and build the right technologies for our data scientists to be successful. The manager will help recruit and lead a small group of exceptional developers who will work hand in hand with scientists on a daily basis to enable them to deploy their ideas into production quickly and safely.The successful candidate will be very hands on, and be an active and passionate developer. They will have a track record of leading a small team of developers to successful deployments under time constraints in complex environments. They will welcome and enjoy the challenge of working with different users, problem spaces and technologies project to project. They will be conversant with a variety of data storage and processing technologies – successful candidates will enjoy in depth discussions around data storage, programming language, algorithms and security questions.Higher degree in computer science or engineering
Experience building and managing small development teams
5+ years of hands on, daily Python development
Experience building SDLC processes and getting adoption in an organization
Intimate working knowledge of relational and non-relational databases
Experience in a highly controlled data environment and implementing entitlements and security solutions
Some experience with Java
Some experience with web technologies
Some knowledge of Python based data science libraries an advantage
Financial industry experience is not a pre-requisite
