Employment History
Yard Logistics Assistant – May 2022 to Present – Aldi Ltd, Goldthorpe RDC
- Performing the unloading of HGV’s using a counterbalance forklift, outside on the yard of an RDC. This has to be done within a timely manner, whilst maintaining safe speeds, distances from others and checking mirrors and blind spots, in all weather conditions.
- Providing the safe and secure loading of many types of trailers with various equipment, pallets and goods. Care is to be taken with the equipment during movement and loading, maintaining high levels of concentration, so not to damage the goods or the vehicle and ensuring the vehicle is loaded safely and within its weight limits.
- Regular manual work is also required on the yard. I possess the knowledge of how to lift and move heavy equipment, safely and securely, minimising danger to myself and others. I am also experienced in using electric and manual pallet trucks to move goods throughout warehouses, or outside.
- Performing daily walk around checks on forklifts being used that shift and reporting any defects or malfunctions. This includes checking oil and coolant levels, looking for general wear and tear, checking tyres are fit for purpose and sufficient tread, ensuring safety features such as brakes, lights, amber beacons and reversing alarms are in good working order and that the vehicle is able to perform its day to day role effectively and safely.
Unemployed – March 2022 to May 2022
- I was made redundant from my previous employer due to budget cuts and falling client demand. However, I saw this as an opportunity to change my career and use the time to start building the skills I needed for this change. As such, I completed my counterbalance forklift training and obtained my licence in April 2022. In addition, I began applying for my HGV licence. During this time I enrolled in a HGV Bootcamp which helped me to gain the training needed to become a fully qualified HGV driver.
Various roles – July 2007 to March 2022 – Capita Plc, Rotherham and Leeds
- I have worked with several companies during this time, performing many different roles, in different locations as part of my career progression within the outsourcing company Capita.
- Such roles include customer services, tech support, dispute resolution and complaint handling, leadership and management of a small team, quality analyst and training provider.
