Professional profile

I have held an LGV licence (Class C E + C) since 1992, also have a valid LGV Driver Qualification Card, which is registered on the DSA website, and a Digital Tachograph card. I have worked in transport and logistics for over 30 years, S.A.F.E.D trained, no points or convictions on license.
Working in logistics means time is critical as loads must be delivered when scheduled; this involves working in conjunction with my own traffic office and the customer’s office to ensure that the goods are delivered timeously. I am also aware of customer needs and the need to be flexible in regard to working patterns e.g. start times and finish times. I work within tachograph regulations and ensure the job is carried out legally.
I use my own initiative when working out traffic movements e.g. around the UK, working out best route to avoid delays, traffic build up, taking weather into account, saving fuel and Tyre wear.
I am very aware of health & safety issues as each delivery point and/or workplace have their own rules and regulations that must be adhered to. It is my duty to ensure the health and safety of any person that is loading/ unloading my vehicle
I am an ambassador for the company so I am always smartly dressed, polite and courteous when dealing with customers and the general public. I am aware that I am one link in the logistics chain which forms part of the team that ensures the job is done safely, legally and efficiently.
