To Whom this may concern,

Upon completion of my BA Honours Degree in Fashion at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2016, I have learnt how to make a design come to life through illustration, sampling and toiling, and how to turn an idea into a walking piece of art. My dissertation “Can dyslexia influence a creative mind?” really captivated me and opened my eyes to the power of the mind and the possibilities of how this can influence our creativity. Styling models in fashion shows and showing my own collections was an amazing way to finalise each project and see our progression and achievements.

Since completing my degree, I have gained extensive experience working in the fashion industry for brands such as All Saints and Vivienne Westwood. Some of my skills include but are not limited to; styling, design, photoshop, fabric sourcing as well as excellent communication, negotiation and team working skills.

Recently, I have founded my own slow fashion brand, Noa and Rain, which specialises in the creation of hand-made, sustainable, one-off pieces. Each piece is made from locally sourced yarns and fabrics as well as recycled materials using no plastics which results in zero waste. Climate change is extremely important to me and therefore a percentage of each sale is donated to ‘Saving the Ocean’ charities.

So far, I have designed and handmade two collections for Noa and Rain. For each of these collections, I have produced and styled my own photoshoots. I have researched locations, researched and liaised with models, makeup artists and photographers, and styled the looks for the shoots. On shoot days, I assume multiple roles as a director, stylist, designer and coordinator. The experience I have gained is immeasurable and I know the skills I have developed would aid me in a role such as this.

I pride myself on being a hardworking, enthusiastic individual with a passion for the fashion industry. Having researched your organisation and in view of my qualifications, experience and long-term interest in the fashion industry, I believe I am the perfect candidate for this opportunity.

I have attached my resume for further consideration.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

Vanessa Ratcliffe
