• Won depot manager of the year in my first year with the company
• I was awarded a second depot after 18 months (only Manager to have 2 depots)
• I took my first depot from 10th rated depot in the H&S audits to number 1 in 2 years
• I took my second depot from 25th rated depot in the H&S audits to 4th in 10 months
• I was given responsibility for the driver training (Blue Tree for the Northern & Scottish Region)

Depot Manager
Flogas UK – 2012-05 – Present
To ensure the safe operation, commercial success and efficiency of a Flogas filling plant site, the main purpose of the role is to maximise the profitability of the business by ensuring excellent customer service and efficient operations whilst maintaining and improving health and safety standards associated with the site and associated delivery vehicles.
• I manage the site and vehicle cost within the budget levels, whist driving the customer service standards within the depot, working with sales team to develop business for the site.
• Protecting the company’s operator’s licence by ensuring management and compliance with tachographs and working time regulations, Mot’s and Inspections
• Route planning for the non bulk operations.
• Conduct all aspects of managing employees on site including recruitment, training, performance management and appraisals.
• Risk Assessments and Permits to Work, working with contractors on the plant.
• Working closely with the HSE on plant safety, conforming within the codes of practice for the industry
• I have a total of 32 staff who report to me across both sites, Assistant Managers – Drivers – Technician – Fillers
• Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, who in turn reports to the Board

I started the company in 2006 as an owner driver, working for a few small companies in the collection and delivery of goods, this then grew fairly quickly and I took the decision to start to employee a few drivers and use sub-contractors.
• In May 2008 we had grown to 19 employed fulltime staff and was working from 2 sites, we had now got an operator’s licence in place for 2 HGV’s and were running a further thirteen 3.5 tonne vans.
• By June 2009 we had grown to 7 HGV’s and were now employing 30 staff.
• In 2010 we decided to bring the Driver CPC training in house and also offer it to other paying haulage companies and coach companies, we were registered Jaupt Approved and ran various courses for 18 months
The skills I had gained and improved on included:
• Working to strict deadlines with customers.
• Monitoring and improving KPI’s and service level agreements.
• Participating in weekly management team meetings.
• Managing department and company budgets.
• Ensuring adherence to all health and safety and employment legislation.
• Managing staffing levels, sickness/ absence, overtime levels, grievance proceedings.
• Keeping the operator’s licence infringement free
• Monitor and ensuring the strict adherence of all drivers to the EU Drivers hours, WTD infringements & retraining where needed

• With the downturn in the world markets and companies struggling to pay their bills we suffered too many bad debts and became insolvent in June 2011 and ultimately having to close in July 2011
